Chapter 196
With a thunderous bang, the door was slammed shut. The force was so great that it seemed to shake the
entire place.
Aurelia staggered, falling to the floor in a daze, feeling as though she’d been shattered like a porcelain vase, broken into countless pieces that were impossible to put back together.
Upon hearing the commotion, Laura rushed from her room. Seeing Aurelia in such a state, she quickly helped her to her feet, “Aurelia, did you have another fight with the master?”
“Laura, I’m tired. I want to sleep.” Aurelia didn’t feel like explaining, nor did she know what to say.
Laura sighed and helped her to bed. After she left, Aurelia pulled the blankets over her head and began to sob. Her grievances, frustrations, and feelings of helplessness flooded out of her in waves of tears.
When Aurelia woke up the next morning, her eyes were red and swollen. She iced them for a while, which helped a bit.
She deeply regretted slapping Leopold.
She blamed it on her pregnancy hormones. They were making her emotionally unstable and impulsive. He was a powerful man, always looking down on others. She must be the only person on earth who dared to slap him.
If she weren’t carrying his children, he probably would’ve broken her neck and chopped her into pieces.
Sitting at the breakfast table, she stirred her milk, lost in thought.
This time, she had truly angered Leopold. He probably wouldn’t come back.
Laura brought her some scrambled eggs, “Do you know how much the master has changed since he started seeing you?”
Aurelia was stunned. “In what way?”
Laura sat next to her and smiled. “I’ve watched him grow up. He’s always had a cold, unapproachable face. He never shows his emotions, and no one can guess what he’s thinking. Even his grandmother often can’t
understand him.”
Aurelia sighed softly. She couldn’t understand him either.
“I don’t see any changes, he’s still like an iceberg.”
Laura chuckled. “If he can’t even control his emotions around you, isn’t that a change?”
Aurelia inhaled sharply. This was because he hated her so much that he couldn’t keep his temper in check, “Laura, stop trying to comfort me.”
Laura held her hand. “Aurelia, you’re the woman destined to be with the master. Otherwise, fate wouldn’t have arranged for you to bear his child. You need to be patient. After the storm comes the calm.”
Aurelia forced a bitter smile. This was simply a cruel joke.
Perhaps she owed him in a past life, and this was her punishment: a brief, unhappy relationship and a child to pay off her debt. Once she had paid him back, they would be even, and they could each go their own way. After breakfast, she went to the office.
She had no intention of apologizing to Leopold.
