Chapter 34
“Isn’t the jewelry show just a week? At most I’ll be eating them for seven days, right? I’m a little worried about getting an upset stomach. If I can’t adjust, I might have to rush back to home, I wouldn’t want to harm the baby.”
When necessary, the baby could serve as a shield.
Leopold, naturally, would take this into consideration.
He was always meticulous in his plans, leaving no room for error.
“I’ll arrange a traveling doctor for you. Going to Europe, you’ll learn more than you ever did at Muse Club.”
Aurelia kept her head down, quietly munching on a steak.
It was always better to be safe than sorry. If things went south, she’d hop on a plane back home in no time.
The dining room was slowly engulfed in silence.
After dinner, Laura brought in a fruit bowl and excused herself to her room.
Sitting next to Leopold, Aurelia felt as if she was sitting on pins and needles.
She subconsciously moved a bit to the side, then a bit more, until she was at the edge of the couch.
“Uh. Mr. Leopold, regarding the baby, you don’t need to worry. I can handle it myself.”
Leopold suddenly leaned in. With one hand on the back of the couch and the other on the armrest, he trapped her in the corner. The pressure was immense.
“Do I look idle to you?”
Aurelia stuck out her tongue awkwardly, realizing she was perhaps overthinking things.
“You’re not idle, Mr. Leopold. You’re always busy. I wouldn’t want to bother you with such small matters.”
Leopold coldly watched her, convinced she was panicking inside, wanting to burst into tears.
He patted her head lightly, like one would pet a small animal, “A woman should be understanding, not cunning.”
“I’m honest. I never play tricks.”
“Really?” Leopold raised an eyebrow mockingly, “I never noticed.”
She thought, “That’s because you’re silly.”
Aurelia thought to herself sarcastically.
“There’s a saying, time reveals a person’s true intentions. If you’d get to know me better, you’d find out I’m not only honest but also hardworking and smart, a real asset.”
Leopold smirked, his smile dark and menacing.
He didn’t know whether she was an asset, but she certainly was cunning, a miser even!
His long fingers traced her cheek, lightly teasing, as if tempting her.
“Do you want to get to know me better?”
Aurelia shrank back into the corner.
His deep voice was incredibly attractive, carrying a hint of wicked charm. His handsome face was up close,

and his perfect features were tempting, trying to lure her in.
Taking a deep breath, she tried to keep her composure, “I just think you should get to know me better to avoid any misunderstandings.”
As she spoke, her chest rose and fell slightly. Leopold caught a glimpse, and a heat wave rushed to his throat, but his face remained cold.
“I have no interest in getting to know you.”
His words were extremely cold, void of any warmth.
Aurelia had expected this. She never held any hope for him.
“No problem.” She ducked her head, slipping away from his arm.
“I have some work to finish. I’ll head back to my room.”
Of all the strategies, retreat was the best.
