She blinked suddenly, a single tear silently cascading down her cheek. “I’m…I’m okay.” 

“Then why are you crying? Did Dad upset you again?” Kane reached out with his small hand and gently cleaned her tears. 

Only then did she realize she was crying. Hastily, she grabbed a tissue to dry her tears, “Mommy didn’t cry. I just choked on my food earlier, it made me uncomfortable.” 

She struggled to control her emotions, forcing her stiff lips into a weak smile. 

Kane quickly poured her a glass of water. “Drink this, it’ll help.” 

“Okay.” She took a sip, washing away the bitterness in her mouth, but the bitterness in her heart remained. 

She ruffled her son’s hair, “I’m okay now, and I have to go to work.” 

“Okay.” Kane nodded obediently.

Aurelia smiled cynically. “The Stirling family needs a wise, tolerant, and virtuous wife, not some relentless first love. There’s a gathering with Leopold’s other women this weekend, would you like to join?” 

Elowen was taken aback. “Are you serious?” 

Aurelia nodded solemnly. “Yes, I’ve already sent out the invitations.” 

Elowen was highly skeptical. “I…will come, just to see who these women are.”

Melissa glared at Aurelia. “What are you playing at?” 

“I just want to bond with my sisters. We can have tea, play cards, it’ll promote harmony in the mansion,” Aurelia said.
