Emma cast a sneer at Susan and said, “The fortunes of the Hawthorne family are all due to my cousin and her brother, nothing to do with Ritchie. Even if you worm your way into this family, you won’t see a dime. You’re just a plaything to him. You’d better think twice.” 

Susan was stunned. Wasn’t she suffering a double loss? 

“Ritchie, you absolute bastard!” Enraged, she lunged at Ritchie, punching and kicking him. She didn’t care about being the mistress. Love was nonsense, morality even more so. Money was the true ruler.
