Chapter 504
Sunlight filtered through the branches, painting a kaleidoscope of shadows across the plush carpet of Harmony Hill Mansion through the French windows.
Leopold, perched by the window, leisurely sipped on his morning coffee.
Early in the morning, Megan had called, practically begging to see him.
He had told her to come over at two o'clock.
Glancing at the antique clock on the wall, he noted that it was still ten minutes shy of two when the sound of a car engine echoed from outside.
Megan entered, shivering with fear.
"Leopold, you have to help me and my child," she implored, collapsing onto the carpet and clutching at his legs.
Without missing a beat, Leopold gave her a contemplative look. "What happened?"
“Have you heard of Zachary? He's a terrifying witch doctor from Southeast Asia. Anyone that he has cursed on is doomed. He's in Elysium now. I saw him at a party last night."
This wasn't news to Leopold. He'd known about that.
"Do you have issues with him?"
"No." she shook her head.
"Then what are you worried about?"
“I'm worried about Kerry. I saw her talking to Zachary yesterday. I suspect she's plotting against me." Megan hugged her arm. “She often forces me into doing things I'm uncomfortable with. When I resist, it angers her. I'm afraid she's consulting Zachary to curse me and control me like a puppet. If I refuse to comply, I'll die."
The depth in Leopold's eyes intensified, seemingly bottomless.
"You could also approach Zachary to have him curse Kerry instead. Witch doctors like him are usually only after money"
He never believed in such superstitions, considering them mere hocus-pocus.
Megan shook her head and said, "Zachary isn't someone that can be bought. He's with Kerry."
Had he been approachable, she would've reached out long ago.
Tears welled up in Megan's eyes as she looked up at him. “Leopold, can I move in here? I wish to be with you every day. As long as you're with me and my child, I'm not afraid of anything."
Leopold replied indifferently, “I'm busy, and I can only come occasionally. You moving in wouldn't make much of a difference."
Megan was frustrated. If not for the old hag Jessica standing in her way, she could have moved into the Stirling Mansion and become the lady of the house.
Jessica deserved to die!
Her primary task was to get rid of Kerry as soon as possible to hold greater power in the AK Group.
“Leopold, can you make Kerry disappear from Elysium soon? I'm scared that she might harm me and my child. I fear she might force me into doing something terrible again."
Leopold's icy gaze, sharpened by the sunlight, bore into her like a hawk's.
"I have my plans."
Megan couldn't figure out what he was thinking or planning to do.
If he continued to delay, she would have to take matters into her own hands.
