Chapter 75
“As long as we’re still married, you can’t so much as think about another man!” He was like a tyrant, imposing his will ruthlessly, with the threat of dire consequences for those who dared to defy him.
Aurela despised his high–handedness, but she knew better than to fight fire with fire. She wasn’t foolish enough to throw a raw egg against a brick wall.
If you’re done here, be on my way to avoid any further speculation.”
She cautiously opened the door just a crack, peering out to make sure the coast was clear. Then she slipped out like a thief in the night, as if she was having an illicit affair.
Leopold watched her sneaky exit with a mix of scorn and inexplicable irritation. She didn’t regard him as her husband in any way. To her, he was nothing more than a moving ATM!
Returning to her seat, Aurelia found Elowen storming in, seething with rage. Oh boy, this was going to be the drama of the year
She took a sip of her juice, ready to watch the show unfold.
Without a word, Elowen marched up to Evelyn and raised her hand to slap her.
Evelyn could have easily avoided it. She was a black belt in karate, and Elowen was no match for her.
But she didn’t dodge Spotting Leopold out of the corner of her eye, she took the slap without flinching.
The cap echoed throughout the silent hall. Evelyn covered her face, tears welling up in her eyes. She was a picture of proful innocence.
“Bower, what the hell is this?
Elowen glared at her malevolently. “What right do you have to speak to me? You little tramp! You’ve been throwing yourself at Leopold since the moment you got back. Do you think I’m invisible?”
Leopold strode up and Evelyn immediately sought shelter behind him. “Leo.”
She sniffed, tears streaming down her face. Leopold called for a waiter to bring an ice pack for her face. When his gaze turned to Elowen, it was icy cold. “Apologize to Evelyn now!”
Elowers face turned pale, “Why should I apologize? She’s shamelessly flirting with you. I should have hit her
The aura around Leopold grew colder, dropping the temperature in the room significantly
“Evelyn is my sister I promised Megan I would take care of her. I always keep my promises. If you don’t apologize today, we’re through”
His words were final, cold, and heartless It was clear he was ready to call off their engagement
A cruel smile played on Evelynis face. “Leo, maybe we should just let this go.”
her understanding and gentle demeanor would have melted any manis heart. She made Elowen’s temper tantrum look petty in comparison
Ewen was livid, but she held her tongue Leopold sat down with Evelyn, coldly telling Elowen, “You can eave now, and don’t ever show your face around me again.”
Blowen blurted out “Im sorry”
Lespoid took a sip of his wine, his voice low and stern, “Don’t let this happen again, or you know the consequences”
Chapter
Elowen slumped onto a nearby sofa, nursing her grievances silently. Evelyn shot her a smug glance. She was determined to help Leo break off this tiresome engagement.
Aurelia rolled her eyes from a distance. Evelyn was a true manipulator. She might as well be regarded as a sly woman.
