Almost everyone thought that Aurelia would get back together with Arnold, perhaps even Aurelia herself entertained the thought.

"Is Megan's child yours?"

"What does it matter if he is or isn't?" Leopold retorted with a brooding glare because he thought she wouldn't care about it.

Leopold was tired of this feeling as if he had a deep grievance he couldn't voice. He took a deep breath, "The reason I'll let you know eventually."

Aurelia stared at him unblinkingly, her gaze sharp, "Just tell me the truth. Is Megan's child really yours?"

"I promised you, no other children. I won't break my word," he said decisively, his eyes earnest and steady.

Aurelia was confused. If the child wasn't his, then whose was it?

It was improbable that Megan would be intimate with anyone other than him. She dreamt of bearing the Stirling family heir, and getting involved with someone else would be like shooting herself in the foot, maybe even worse.

So, had she been played by Leopold?

"If that child has indeed been switched, would you save him? Regardless, he's innocent. Megan's sins shouldn't be laid upon him."
