Aurelia glanced sideways at Leopold, the last person she could ever trust. If he were reliable, pigs might just sprout wings and fly.
With an effortless flex of his iron-strong arm, Leopold pulled her into his embrace, his bushy eyebrows knitting together slightly. "Am I not charming in your eyes?"
Indeed, he was devilishly handsome, a sight for sore eyes. How could he not be charming?
It was just that her self-control was too formidable.
"I'm not some lovestruck girl anymore, all giddy on dopamine. My heart has got hurt too much. It's become still as a pond, in full-on defense mode."
Leopold heaved a resigned sigh. "Let's kickstart the romance again and get that dopamine flowing."
"Are you going to woo me all over?" Her eyes crinkled with amusement, a playful tease in her gaze.
"What do you say?" His handsome face nearly touched hers, his tall nose lightly brushing against hers, an intangible provocation. It was an outright temptation.
The deep, masculine scent of him was full of male hormones, sending her heartbeat into a frantic race, her pulse in disarray.
"It won't be easy. Those who've tried to woo me know that. They've nicknamed me 'The Iron Maiden.'"
His lips curved into an alluring smile. "I love a good challenge." He was determined to win her heart back from Arnold.
