Tanya's smile was plastered across her face, but her heart was far from happy.
Inviting Skyler to claim his place in the Elysium family had been her biggest blunder.
All she wanted now was to take him back home and regain control of the situation.
But at this time, she could only say, "It's so good to see you've got yourself a proper job, Skyler. I’m really proud of you. Our boy is all grown up now."
Jessica gave her a sidelong glance and said with feigned nonchalance, "The child should have come to Elysium sooner. You all have been too busy to pay proper attention to him, neglecting his feelings."
Tanya sighed, "My sister-in-law believes in free-range parenting. Look at Leah, only seventeen, is allowed to gallivant around all by herself."
Aurelia approached with a tray of freshly picked fruits, "Tanya, these lychees are freshly picked this afternoon. Please, try some."
Tanya looked at her, a sly smile playing on her lips, "I was just talking about Leah. Isn't she assisting your brother?"
Aurelia hummed in acknowledgment, unsure how Tanya had found out. But with the AK Group having eyes and ears all over Elysium, it wasn't surprising she knew.
Skyler stood up, eager to escape Tanya's company, "Auntie, I'm going up to hang out with William."
Tanya grabbed his arm, "I haven't seen you in ages, and you're in such a rush to leave. Don't you want to spend time with me?"
What an ungrateful brat!
Skyler pulled a face. The truth was he couldn't be happier to be away from her.
"Auntie, I really want to see my cousin. I don't even know when he'll be discharged. He'll be thrilled to hear I'm teaching at Pinnacle Ivy League School."
Tanya seemed to be choked. Was he influenced by Leopold? Had he managed to charm Skyler into forgetting who was friend or foe?
"Leopold has always been an ice king. I'm surprised you're so close to him."
