Cordelia totally ignored Samantha and quickly picked out two belts with Brooklyn, one black and the other brown. Both felt pretty good, not exactly designer brands, but the quality was definitely up there. She hoped Ronan would dig it.
The total came to 1790, and Samantha issued the receipt.
As Cordelia was about to pay and bounce, another woman sauntered in. "Well, isn't this a coincidence," Cordelia thought. Deanna, all elegance and poise, walked up to Cordelia, carrying a bag.
After hanging around Ronan for so long, Cordelia had picked up a thing or two about brands, and she knew the one Deanna was carrying was Patek Philippe.
"What are you buying, Ms. Haselwood?" Deanna asked, looking like she was ready for some juicy gossip.
"A belt for Ronan."
"What brand?" Deanna glanced at the store name. "Never heard of it, you think Ronan's gonna like something so cheap? Good luck with that."
Without acknowledging Deanna, Cordelia just walked out with Brooklyn.
"Talk about bad luck, running into those two," Cordelia grumbled.
"What if Deanna tries to stir things up in front of Mr. Evans? Don't you wanna come up with a game plan?"
"Deal with problems as they come. I don't wanna think too much this time." Cordelia was already feeling irked.
She thought, “What's mine, no one can snatch away, and what's not mine, no matter what, will never be mine.”
