"You're a grown man. This might not affect your reputation at all, but Sophia's marriage history might someday come to light even if you annul the marriage. There would be disdain and criticism from her future spouse and in-laws! Do you have any idea how much this would affect a young woman's life? You seem to be taking this very lightly!"
Adam's irritation grew as he spoke. He signaled to the men beside him, and they promptly handed him a professional baseball bat.
Adam gently tapped the baseball bat in his hand and said, "It is my duty as a father to prevent anyone from mistreating my daughter like this! You mentioned compensating Sophia, right? Very well! I'll present you with two options now. The first is to forget about Corinne, have a grand wedding with my daughter, and be responsible for her for as long as she lives. As for the other option, I'll allow you to annul your marriage with Sophia if you're able to survive a hundred strikes of this baseball bat. The ball is in your court!"
Jeremy glanced at the baseball bat in Adam's hand. He frowned, but his emotions remained indiscernible.
After observing Jeremy's silence, Adam sneered and said, "What's wrong? Can't make up your mind? You're a coward, Jeremy. You're unwilling to take responsibility for my daughter, and you don't dare endure a hundred hits for Corinne.
"Is that all you've got going for you? Where did all that big talk about wanting to take responsibility for your wife and children go? If you don't have the balls to endure that, you can always choose the option of giving my daughter a proper wedding. I'll pretend as if nothing happened and accept you as my son-in-law!
Jeremy removed his suit jacket with a composed expression and said, "Okay, then. I'll take a hundred strikes from your baseball bat. I expect you to honor your word after this. Allow Sophia and I to proceed with the annulment and never trouble my wife and children in the future."
Adam was taken aback. He had not expected Jeremy to choose the beating over taking responsibility for Sophia.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Day I Kissed An Older Man
This book is a good book, but it’s too short. I hope it has a part two👍🏾...
This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....
Great writing! I almost cried when Helen hit Melody! So sad! 😭 can’t wait to see how the relationship with her and Lucas develops though. So tired of the repetitive problems with different people....
Yikes my body tenses so much, my moods change as the scenes change. It leaves me wanting to continue reading....
my heart breaks for melody, so many ups and downs, i shed a few tears when lucas walked by melody carrying thalia, and melody stayed quiet while watching them leave. i find myself getting into character as if im one. i dont remember ever feeling like that in any other books. im thankful the 10 chapters/day. waiting for the next 10...
We have updated progress from 7 chapters/day to 10 chapters/day.<3...
i love grandma Beatrice, there needs to me more people like her in the world straight forward and to the point, no beating around the bush and worrying about offending anyone, why pretend to be someone your not....
looking forward to more chapters, The same thing is happening to Melody as what happened to Luna, if Luna was back maybe she would set Lucas straight, can't wait to see how Lucas handles the situations that will arrive. Poor Melody....
ya Lucas pay more attention to Melody lets see what happens waiting for more chapters thanks...
