She did not show any signs of her true intentions. 'If Melody is gone, I'll be the female lead!' The thought made her feel quite pleased.
"Keep trying to resuscitate her! The ambulance is on its way!"
The two safety personnel tirelessly alternated performing CPR. Real chest compressions for effective CPR could be quite exhausting.
Both of them were becoming numb, continuing the motions almost mechanically.
"Again! One, two..."
They felt an intense sense of self-blame. How could they not have noticed something was off when Melody was so close? How could they let a living, breathing life slip away right in front of them?
Such a situation never occurred in their entire career. They were overwhelmed with guilt.
"We got it! She's breathing! She's breathing!"
At that moment, the assistant heard Melody's extremely faint breathing. It was barely audible, yet it instantly ignited hope in everyone's heart.
"Oh, thank heavens! I almost got worried to death."
Shaun could not help but clench his fist in a celebratory gesture.
At that moment, the ambulance arrived.
Medical personnel lifted Melody onto the ambulance and put an oxygen mask on her face. The two safety personnel collapsed on the ground, their chests heaving with exhaustion.
"Thank you... Thank you for saving Melody!"
"Well then, just go upstairs and rest. Leave dinner to me."
Beatrice nodded. Before going upstairs, she reminded Cedric to make an extra pot of soup for the evening. After a busy day, Melody could use some nourishment.
However, Melody still had not returned from work after another two hours had passed, which was peculiar.
"Is there night filming tonight? Wait, according to Melody's schedule, there's no scene scheduled after six in the evening. Could it be...she has something else going on?"
Both Beatrice and Cedric were puzzled, wondering why Melody was not back yet. Just as they were about to call Shaun, his call came through first.
Shaun had called to apologize. Since Melody was still in the hospital, he felt he should not keep Beatrice and Cedric in the dark.
"What did you say? Say it again!"

This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....
