"Sorry, Melody. I know my visit's a bit sudden, but as Lucas' good friend, I couldn't just sit back knowing you're unwell without coming to see you! Lucas, hurry and show Melody the gifts I bought for her!"
Thalia nudged Lucas, and he—seeming to snap out of a daze—handed the gifts to Melody.
"Melody, it's our first meeting, and I didn't have time to prepare a proper gift. I picked out two things at the mall, thinking they might be useful for you. Hope they come in handy," continued Thalia.
Melody felt a sting from Thalia and Lucas' familiar interactions. She lowered her eyes and forced a smile. "Thank you. I appreciate your thoughts, but you didn't have to bring me anything. I have everything I need here."
Thalia looked around before nodding. "You're right. You have everything here. Lucas has always been generous and takes care of those around him. I'm glad he's taking good care of you as well. But these gifts are also a gesture from me, so please accept them, Melody.
"I hope you get well soon. I'll come and visit again when you're feeling better. I need to go home now. Grandpa and Grandma are waiting for me. So please excuse us."
Melody had not expected that even Beatrice and Cedric knew about Thalia's return. This realization made her heart tighten. She became desolate at the thought that Thalia's return might divert attention from her.
'Why do these kinds of things always happen just when I thought everything was falling into place?'
"Then... You two should go back quickly, then. Don't let Grandpa and Grandma wait," said Melody.
Lucas glanced instinctively in her direction when he heard that. She was lying alone on the hospital bed, looking fragile and almost swallowed by the blanket.
Lucas had planned to let Thalia go home first. After all, he needed to stay there and take care of Melody.
However, Thalia—as if reading his mind—suddenly tugged at his sleeve.
"Let's go, Lucas. You have to take me home. I haven't been back for several years, and I don't know the way anymore. I'm afraid I'll get lost!"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Day I Kissed An Older Man
This book is a good book, but it’s too short. I hope it has a part two👍🏾...
This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....
Great writing! I almost cried when Helen hit Melody! So sad! 😭 can’t wait to see how the relationship with her and Lucas develops though. So tired of the repetitive problems with different people....
Yikes my body tenses so much, my moods change as the scenes change. It leaves me wanting to continue reading....
my heart breaks for melody, so many ups and downs, i shed a few tears when lucas walked by melody carrying thalia, and melody stayed quiet while watching them leave. i find myself getting into character as if im one. i dont remember ever feeling like that in any other books. im thankful the 10 chapters/day. waiting for the next 10...
We have updated progress from 7 chapters/day to 10 chapters/day.<3...
i love grandma Beatrice, there needs to me more people like her in the world straight forward and to the point, no beating around the bush and worrying about offending anyone, why pretend to be someone your not....
looking forward to more chapters, The same thing is happening to Melody as what happened to Luna, if Luna was back maybe she would set Lucas straight, can't wait to see how Lucas handles the situations that will arrive. Poor Melody....
ya Lucas pay more attention to Melody lets see what happens waiting for more chapters thanks...
