Dougie put down his foot and retreated a few steps in fear.
"Who… Who are you guys?"
Lucas looked at the almost-unconscious Melody, his heart aching as if it were bleeding. He immediately kicked Dougie fiercely against the wall, causing him to fall.
"Ah!"
"Hands up. Don't even think about resisting. We've already got you surrounded!"
Dougie continued to groan on the ground. Lucas rushed over to kick him again, but someone stopped him.
"Mister Lucas, the most important thing now is to make sure Miss Melody is okay. We should get her to the hospital. As for this wretched man, there will be plenty of time to deal with him later."
Lucas's clenched fists trembled for a while before he finally turned and walked to Melody. He first checked her injuries, and a scalding hot tear fell onto Melody's face when he saw the red marks on her face and the bruises around her mouth.
The others remained silent. Originally, they thought Lucas and Melody were just a contractual couple, but it was clear to them then that Lucas truly loved Melody to the core. After all, who would not feel heartbroken seeing his beloved woman lying injured in a dilapidated environment?
Even the police officers frowned deeply; Melody's kidnapping was truly heinous.

This book is getting boring now. I loved Jeremy, Corinne, Sonny and Lucas. The story needs to end. or bring back more of Jeremy, etc....
I haven't skipped any chapter at all. Though the story is good, it keeps going back to base one. I think this has no ending at all and somehow after reading more than 2500 chapters it's kinda tiring already. They have drained all the thrills....

my heart breaks for melody, so many ups and downs, i shed a few tears when lucas walked by melody carrying thalia, and melody stayed quiet while watching them leave. i find myself getting into character as if im one. i dont remember ever feeling like that in any other books. im thankful the 10 chapters/day. waiting for the next 10...
