Charles couldn’t be bothered to listen to her nonsense. The moment she mentioned Charlie, he felt rage boiling inside him.
He shot a look at the bodyguard.
Without hesitation, the bodyguard raised his hand and struck the side of Dahlia’s neck with a swift chop.
Everything went black.
Dahlia passed out cold.
She was dragged out of the airport.
The bodyguard loaded her into an unremarkable Volkswagen parked outside.
Behind the wheel sat Wesley.
After hearing from Charles that Sandy had died, Wesley had suffered a sudden attack back at home. During his medical parole, he knocked out the officer escorting him and escaped.
When he went looking for Dahlia to settle the score, Charles’s people pointed him straight to the airport.
Now, as Wesley glanced at Dahlia slumped in the backseat, hatred burned so fiercely in his eyes, it was as if he’d already torn her apart a thousand times in his mind.
His time was running out.
Wesley wasted no time. He gripped the steering wheel, sped away from the airport, and took Dahlia with him.
……
Dahlia woke up with a shock of ice water crashing over her.
She shivered violently, realizing she was sprawled on the cold, hard floor.
Slowly, she opened her eyes and met a pair of eyes brimming with vengeance.
Wesley.
Dahlia’s pupils contracted.
Her last memory was of Charles at the airport, ordering someone to knock her out. Now, she had woken up in Wesley’s clutches.
Wesley didn’t have the power to snatch her from Charles—there was only one explanation: Charles had handed her over, wanting Wesley to do his dirty work.
To let Wesley torment her for him.
Dahlia was so frightened by the look in his eyes that she instinctively tried to scramble away.
Her legs tingled with the first signs of feeling, but she couldn’t stand yet. Using her arms, she tried to drag herself backward.
But Wesley was faster.
In a few strides, he was upon her.
He snatched a fistful of her hair and dragged her across the floor.
Pain seared through her scalp—Dahlia thought he might rip her hair out by the roots.
“Wesley, please! It hurts—let go!”
Tears streamed down her face from the pain.
She clawed at his hand, trying to pry his fingers loose, but he didn’t budge.
Wesley hauled her upright, dangling her helplessly in the air.
Paralyzed, she could only stare in horror as Wesley approached, a gleaming knife in his hand.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Day Our Promise Breaks (Charles and Evelyn)
What a bad novel. Evil deeds rules the entire story, no ending, villains characters succeed, no way out for the good people. I was hoping for better twists but disappointed again and again. Time close the book for me, no more, enough....
When will Evelyn's sufferings end? You mean to say evil rules the world? No longer funny, the twists are getting ridiculous....
Wow Finally! Thanks!...
More chapters please...
