An ugly girl with tanned skin, eager to curry favor with Yvonne, shot her a knowing glance before sneering. “Joanna, making money must be a breeze for you. I heard online that you rake in tens of thousands in just one night!”

Joanna had no interest in wasting her energy on them. Ignoring their taunts, she headed straight for the teaching and research office. 

Behind her, Yvonne and her friends continued hurling insults, their laughter filled with malice. 

Joanna knew exactly why Yvonne had been so hostile toward her. 

Yesterday, she learned that Eugene, the deputy director of the Inspection Bureau, was Yvonne’s father. That explained everything. 

Joanna hadn’t mentioned that to Robin. If he found out, he might react aggressively, and she didn’t want him to resort to violence for her sake again. 

Yvonne’s hostility toward Joanna stemmed from one person–Cadoc White, a prominent member of the student union in their department. 

Cadoc came from a wealthy family that owned a coal mining business worth around 300 million. He had a knack for singing and enjoyed flaunting his talent. 

From the moment Yvonne joined the student union, she was captivated by him. However, to her frustration, he showed little interest in her. 

After paying close attention for some time, Yvonne realized that Cadoc had been pursuing Joanna instead.
