After all, if Yvette had a fallout with Lance, why would she still be in the mood to care about the company’s stock?
Yvette silently looked at the door and retracted her smile.
After some thought, she called her mother to tell her about this matter.
Mrs. Quimbey hesitated for a full minute before she asked, "Do you really want to go?"
Yvette responded. "I'll never be able to stand on my own if I don't go. I can’t live under your wing and the Sheldon family’s wing for the rest of my life, right?"
Mrs. Quimbey sighed. Yvette probably gave this some thought.
"You can go, but you must pay attention to the dangers there. Although I want you to grow up, I don't want anything to happen to you. Got it?"
Yvette’s eyes were sore as she answered.
"I know, Mom. But Lance won’t let me go. Can you tell Aunt Fiona about this? If she agrees to it, then it’ll be much easier to convince Lance.”
Mrs. Quimbey paused. "Okay, I'll tell her."
After a few seconds, Mrs. Quimbey continued, "I heard that something happened between you two. Did Lance's exgirlfriend find trouble with you? You didn't suffer a loss, right?”
Yvette burst out laughing.
"Of course, not! Everyone else might be concerned about whether my marriage
with Lance will continue. Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"
Mrs. Quimbey sneered. "I can't just st>f-: RIT> by and watch you get bullied.
Although it was a marriage alliance, I carefully selected him for you. Lance is a good person, so I agreed for you to marry him. But if he bullies you, I won't just sit idly by. If you really can't stand him, just get a divorce. I'll support you."
Yvette was smiling at first, but soon, her tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
Through the phone, Yvette cried silently. She could not imagine the look on her mother's face when she said those words
Mrs. Quimbey had always complained about Yvette not being ambitious enough. Yvette was helpless because she was a substandard daughter.
She was always acting recklessly and getting into trouble, while her mother had to clean up her mess and manage the company alone.
