The doctors came by three times a day. Clayton's face also looked better by the day, so Nicole felt that she was going to recover soon.
A week passed.
The slight tingling in her rib had disappeared.
Her intermittent coughing also stopped.
Clayton could carry Nicole to the wheelchair and push her around the hospital.
The two of them were glued together almost all day. They were inseparable.
When Nicole could finally push the wheelchair by herself, she occasionally heard loud screams in the hospital.
They were somewhat hysterical, especially at night.
However, it seemed like it was just her hallucination because the scream would disappear quickly.
When she listened for it again, she could not hear it, as if it was just an illusion.
Nicole was sitting on the balcony of the ward, admiring the moon, while Clayton was doing some work on his computer in the room. He looked flawless when he was serious. He looked unkempt with his collar opened slightly.
While she admired the moon, she was also admiring Clayton.
Clayton seemed to be able to sense her gaze. He chuckled lightly without raising his eyes.
"Have you seen enough?"
Nicole blushed and immediately retracted her gaze in avoidance.
However, after some thought, she was entitled to look at him however she liked since they were married.
Nicole looked back at him with a smile.
"Mr. Sloan, you're more beautiful than the moon."
Clayton was already accustomed to her occasional flattery.
He smiled lightly, rubbed his temple helplessly, and looked up at her.
"Do you wanna go to bed?"
Nicole was still feeling shy from just now. When she heard this, her thoughts instantly wandered elsewhere.
"Ugh, I’m still sick!"
Clayton paused.
He frowned and laughed.
"It's already 10:00 pm. I was just asking if you want your beauty sleep. What were you thinking?”
Nicole took a deep breath and turned her head away.
Well, that was embarrassing.
Clayton did not feel embarrassed. The only one who was embarrassed was Nicole.
Nicole really wanted to continue admiring the moon as if nothing had happened, but Clayton did not want to let go of this opportunity. He walked over, stood behind her, pushed the wheelchair inside, ;h%
"Why don't we give it a go tonight?"
Nicole felt that her face was as red as a cooked crab.
She took a deep breath. To prove that her mind was not in the gutter earlier, she firmly rejected him.
"No, I purely meant sleeping and nothing else."
Clayton raised his eyebrows and did not say a word.
Nicole felt like she was at a disadvantage and glanced at him unwillingly.
"I absolutely had no other thoughts!"
Clayton raised his eyebrows but did not expose her thoughts.
"Oh? Even if you don't, I do..."
Clayton rubbed his cheek against hers. His rich and refreshing scent enveloped her, pulling her into a beautiful dream.
His eyes lingered on her body, and his kisses were overwhelming. He supported his arms on both sides of her wheelchair as he bent over. The collar of his shirt was slightly open, and his eyes were so dark as if he could swallow her whole.
Nicole gently leaned on his shoulders. Just as he wanted to take it further and pick her up, they suddenly heard a commotion downstairs.
The hysterical female voice shouted again, sounding hoarse and desperate.
At night, it was quite terrifying.
This completely quelled their desire.
Nicole pushed Clayton away abruptly, frowned, and muttered in displeasure.
"Is this a hospital or a psychiatric ward?”
Clayton did not answer, but his eyes dimmed. His thumb brushed against his lips as he smiled coldly and wickedly.
“It's fine. I'll go take a look?"
Nicole frowned, took his hand, and hesitated.
