The Devil's Betrothed novel Chapter 468

Chapter 468: An Unfortunate Dragon

Meanwhile, Yorian emerged at the mountain’s peak. He had patiently awaited a signal from Oriana for their next move. However, unable to establish a connection, he sensed something amiss and ventured to the location designated by Edna.

Upon arrival, the scene unfolded before him, reminiscent of Oriana in suffering in pain while Arlan was asking the witch to cease inflicting pain on Oriana. A divine energy sphere enveloped the entire surroundings, confining Arlan and Edna within, leaving Oriana stranded outside.

"This witch. It appears I must intervene sooner than anticipated. The entire plan seems to have been ruined."

Determined, Yorian advanced toward Oriana but....

Boom!

Only to be assailed by a sudden onslaught of dark power. The force propelled him backward, yet he harnessed his abilities, preventing a more significant displacement, and regained his footing.

Perplexed, Yorian turned his attention to the origin of the dark magic which had just attacked him.

A woman clad in black stood at a distance, a sly smirk playing on her lips as she examined the fingers that had wielded the magical incantation.

"Zaria?" Yorian uttered in disbelief.

"It’s been quite a while, my dear friend Yorian," the woman remarked, offering him a smile.

Yorian, pressed for time and unwilling to engage with her, retorted, "I can’t say the same. Now, get lost and stay out of my way."

Zaria chuckled, "It’s unusual to witness you losing your temper and resorting to such brusque language. It seems like I’m interrupting something truly important."

"Stop pretending you know nothing," Yorian said, turning to head towards Oriana. "You may not feel inclined to aid your student, but I must help her."

"You can’t," Zaria warned. "Do not meddle, Yorian."

"You’d be wise to cease meddling yourself," Yorian shot back. "I’d love to settle our old score, but I don’t have time for you." He continued walking forward.

Boom!

Before Yorian could make further progress, another powerful attack struck him, forcing him to step back.

"I’m advising you not to interfere, Yorian. Let things unfold," Zaria cautioned.

The onslaught was fiercer than before, and Yorian grasped that Zaria was resolute, unwilling to permit his interference in Oriana’s plight. "She is your student. Instead of aiding her, you are..."

Zaria held her ground, resolute. "I am helping her. Stay put and refrain from meddling in the affairs of the witch clan."

Meanwhile, both overheard Edna’s ominous words about the divine weapon and her intent to end Arlan’s life.

"Prince approached me before Oriana," Zaria explained. "When Oriana made her request, I could only agree, unable to disclose the deal between me and the dragon."

Yorian grasped the depth of Arlan’s determination as he recalled that day when the Prince disappeared, seeking help from Zaria. Arlan had orchestrated this plan, even preferring to seek assistance from a black witch, the very kind he hated. At that Zaria was the enemy of his dear friend Drayce so she was Arlan’s enemy as well. But he still went to get help from an enemy. How resolute he was in protecting Oriana that he was ready to pay any cost, even his blood knowing how it could be used.

"You’ve helped enough. Now, get out of my way," Yorian urged urgently, as Edna prepared to strike Arlan.

Zaria retaliated with another attack at him, "You cannot. It’s time for the Queen of witches to be awakened, and I won’t let you ruin it."

Yorian withstood her assault and queried, "Awakening the Queen at the cost of the life of someone most important to her? Are you attempting to strip away her humanity?"

"You could say that," Zaria acknowledged. "The awakening of the Queen is a grand cause, and for that, a sacrifice is necessary. It’s a pity the sacrifice must be something that inflicts the most pain on her—and it’s an unfortunate dragon."

"You are truly evil," Yorian gritted his teeth. "Get out of my way."

"I can’t allow you to meddle in witch clan business," Zaria asserted, equally resolute in thwarting Yorian.

In the midst of their intense confrontation, Yorian observed with horror as Edna had already stabbed Arlan.

"No," he exclaimed, and both combatants halted their attacks. Yorian rushed towards the energy globe, while Zaria merely gazed at Oriana, who appeared to be in profound shock.

"Now is the time. The witch clan will finally have their new Queen."
