After Yorian left, Drayce asked, "So how shall we celebrate your losing your virginity?"
"By letting me read this book in peace," Arlan replied, focusing on reading.
"How about some wine?" Drayce asked.
Arlan sighed and called for the servant. "Get my favorite wine for the King of Megaris and a glass of milk for that child," Arlan said while signaling towards Slayer.
"Yes, Your Highness," the servant left while Slayer passed a displeased glare at Arlan.
"What?" Arlan raised a brow. "You can’t drink wine, and only children drink milk."
"Then you should be the one to have that glass of milk since you are the child among us three," Slayer countered.
"A child can’t be intimate with a woman, but I can, so the one here who is still a virgin earns another point for being a child."
"Stop acting like you have achieved something so big by losing it."
"You won’t understand unless you taste it," Arlan replied, "and I have no expectations of you at all in this regard."
"I have more important things to do than give my time to court a woman," Slayer replied.
"Or are you worried that what happened to your entire clan and your family will happen to your own family if you build one?" Arlan spoke, his gaze passing by Drayce, who offered an approving nod.
"Are you bringing that up again?" Slayer said, offering a cold glare to both of his friends. He was well aware that nothing was said or done between them unless the other was in on it.
"I am simply waiting for my wine," Drayce spoke, looking towards the door for the servant to arrive soon and had nothing to do with what Arlan had said.
Slayer, of course, didn’t believe him and said, "Yeah, and I am desperately waiting to drink a glass of milk."
"Good for you," Drayce said, managing a slight awkward smile. "Drinking milk is healthy, you know."
"Stop giving me that fake smile," Slayer said with a frown and the next moment that smile from Drayce’s lips disappeared.
These friends knew when to give in to other one.
Just then, a servant arrived with what he had been asked to bring.
Even before Drayce could react, Slayer picked up the glass of wine and looked at Drayce, "You can enjoy that health drink. It might help you serve better to your wife."
Drayce and Arlan realized they had upset their stoic friend again and didn’t dare argue with him. They were at fault for bringing up a topic that Slayer never liked to discuss.
Drayce quietly picked up the glass of milk while he watched Slayer empty the entire glass of wine in one gulp. Though his throat must have burned from the strong wine, he didn’t show it on his face, but they knew what was going to happen in the next few moments.
"You’re going to be drunk now," Arlan said, regretting that he hadn’t stopped Slayer in time. "That was the strongest wine in my collection, you fool."
"Better to be drunk than to listen to the nonsense from you two," Slayer retorted, his eyes growing heavy. The next moment, he lay back on the couch, unconscious.
"True," Arlan nodded. "In my case, I think Oriana would be closer to him than to me."
"Why do you think so?"
"Because he knows her from her previous life. Those dreams I have about that woman are his memories with Esmeray," Arlan explained. "So basically, he was always the first one while I came later."
"Does it matter?" Drayce asked.
"It does, but it was in the past. Now, she is mine first," Arlan replied. "He will get his turn only when it’s needed."
"You can’t keep him suppressed like this," Drayce warned. "Learn to give in so he will give in to you as well. You need him so you can protect her."
"That’s the reason. I can’t throw him out, and he is someone that belongs to her, so all I can do is accept him."
"Is she alright now, so you can mark her?" Drayce asked.
"Once Yorian meets her, I will know," Arlan replied. "If that’s the only way to protect her, then I will let that beast mark her." He then looked at Slayer, "What are you going to do with him?"
"I’ll leave him here. Let him relax here and play with Snowflake. I’ll return to get him," Drayce replied as he stood up. "I wish you to make good use of that book."
"I will," Arlan replied and watched his friend disappear. He then looked at Slayer. "This guy is even more stubborn than me and Drayce."
Arlan called for the servants and asked them to shift Slayer in one of the guest rooms. He was not going to wake up for at least half a day.
