The Devil's Betrothed novel Chapter 680

Chapter 680: She Is Born To Rule

Till a while ago, Arlan, Draven, and Drayce were lying on the dusty ground, all weak and ready to be captured by the demons, but time passed and no one came.

"What’s going on? Do they think we’re dead and there’s no need to collect our bodies?" Arlan asked.

"Maybe they’re waiting for the dust to settle so their fragile lungs won’t suffer from inhaling it?" Drayce commented.

"Both of you should try to use those distorted hearing senses of yours instead," Draven suggested.

"Let’s listen to the man of wisdom here," Arlan chuckled, to which Drayce agreed.

They focused on listening, and the next moment Arlan was surprised. "Oriana," he heard her voice and what she was saying to the demons. "My girl, she is born to rule," he said with pride, impressed by the way she was arguing with Tharzimon without losing her calm and using her brain.

"That’s certainly true," Drayce commented.

"Now that your mate has created an opportunity for you, you better use it," Draven said as he stood up from the ground.

"Of course, our god of wisdom," Arlan replied, standing up as well, though they were all drained of energy.

"There she is," Arlan’s eyes were fixed on her, feeling relieved to see her. His feet moved towards her on their own, but Draven held him back. "Stay here. Let them finish talking first."

Drayce agreed. "Listen to what Draven said. We have to be smart from here on. We don’t want to create more difficulties for her when she’s keeping calm and acting smart. We have already checked how powerful those demons are. We have to be patient."

Arlan listened to both of them, deciding to trust Oriana. They had to get out of this together, and her help was much needed.

"She doesn’t have to act. She was born smart," Arlan commented, his gaze not leaving the sight of his mate.

How he missed her and wished to hold her in his arms, but he had to wait.

Just then, Oriana turned to look at him. Though there was a distance between them, Arlan could feel the longing she felt towards him. Must be difficult for her to act tough and protect herself while staying with the enemy.

"I can’t," Arlan murmured, about to walk forward to go to her. However, Oriana, sensing his intentions, shook her head lightly, signaling him to stay put.

"You should listen to her," Draven said.

"Trust her," Drayce added.

Arlan clenched his fists in frustration and stayed in place. The other two understood Arlan well, as they would feel the same if they were in his position.

Drayce placed his hand on Arlan’s shoulder to comfort him while Draven spoke. "All you have to focus on is defeating that demon."

"How can I be sure Xyron won’t hurt them and will do as I say? I can’t trust him," she protested angrily.

Tharzimon looked at Xyron. "Do as she says. Give them food, water, and medicine. Do not harm them."

"Yes, my Lord."

Oriana gave him an angry glare. "Xyron, you better keep your word. If anything happens to them before the fight, the first thing I will do once I rule this realm is kill you. Even your lord Tharzimon won’t be able to stop me."

Xyron kept his head lowered in front of the angry woman. "Rest assured, my lady."

Tharzimon held Oriana’s hand to drag her away with him, glancing in the direction of the three Dragons, one of whom seemed ready to kill him at the sight of his mate being touched by another man. Tharzimon smirked wickedly and disappeared from there along with Oriana.

"That asshole!" Arlan gritted his teeth angrily. The beast inside him was restless, disturbed by the sight and what that demon might do to Oriana.

"He’s doing it to provoke you," Draven said. "He knows you’re a beast and that you can’t accept what he did just now."

"He won’t have any more arms attached to his body," Arlan spat out, trying his best to contain his anger.

"We heard them, right?" Drayce spoke, his tone calm and composed. "He won’t mark Oriana unless he defeats you. That means she’s safe. She’s been by his side until now, unharmed, and she even dared to challenge his authority. That means she’s not in immediate danger, and you can focus on cultivating your powers."
