Jack, still feeling confused, continued to press further. “Then what’s wrong with me investigating Dr. Amaryllis according to procedure? I don’t understand the issue. Justin’s drug report came back positive. There were drugs found hidden in his office. He clearly took drugs!

“To prove he’s guilty, we have to find out who provided him with the drugs. Otherwise, this case remains shaky. You’re underestimating his attorney, Clarence. He was a former judge known for winning high-profile cases!”

Standing outside, Ralph could only catch fragments of their argument. What stood out were Jack’s voice and the unusually heated and angry response from Donald.

When Jack asked about Superintendent Donald’s connection to Clarice, his denial only fueled Ralph’s suspicions. Years of interrogating suspects had taught him one thing—the louder someone denied involvement, the more likely they were hiding something.
