Chapter 172
Chapter 172
William sat down beside Olivia, pulled a small round porcelain shard from his pocket, and placed it on her forehead. The shard emitted a faint fragrance as it touched her skin, and soon, Olivia began to stir.
She opened her eyes groggily, saw William’s anxious face, and thought she must be dreaming.
“Olivia, wake up,” William urged.
“William? Why are you here? You’ve found me?” Olivia’s voice was filled with confusion and delight as she struggled to discern dream from reality.
“I knew you’ll find me!”
She exclaimed, a triumphant smile playing on her lips.
But her joy was interrupted by a sharp pain in her face.
So strong, so painful!
“Olivia, Olivia Clarke!”
“I’m here!” she responded, the pain snapping her back to reality. She realized she wasn’t dreaming at all.
“William?”
“It’s me. I found you. There’s a bomb here, and we don’t have much time. Can you stand up?”
“A bomb?” Olivia’s head was spinning, but she managed to lean against the wall and stag ger to her feet according to his instruction.
However, she still followed the instructions of William Kinsman and struggled to stand up with the help of the wall.
She began to regain her strength.
“Yes, a bomb. Don’t be afraid. It will explode in six minutes. Can you run out of this building as fast as you can?”
William also stood up and reached out to help Olivia tidy up the messy hair on her forehead. His eyes were filled with tenderness.
“There’s a bomb, and you’re still dilly-dallying? Let’s run!” Olivia came to her senses, grabbed William’s arm, and was about
to run out.
She was still cursing him in her heart for being so reckless.
“It’s going to explode soon. What are you playing at, pretending to be tender at a time like this?” She thought.
When she exerted her strength, William let go of her hand and stood still.
“I still have something to deal with. Go on ahead. I’ll cover the rear,”
“No way! We’re leaving together. What do you need to do? I’ll help!” Olivia was adamant, gripping his hand tightly.
“Olivia, I can’t leave,” William said calmly, increasing Olivia’s distress.
“What do you mean you can’t leave? Why… why is my bracelet on your hand?” she demanded, a terrible suspicion dawning.
“Lone Wolf turned the bracelet into a bomb timer. Olivia, we don’t have time. Please, listen to me.”
William explained patiently and discussed with her in a soft voice.
However, he didn’t expect that Olivia would anger at once.
“No way! Why should you play the hero? It’s just a bomb. I’ll defuse it!”
“You think it’s heroic to put the bomb on yourself? Well, I won’t let you have your way!” she thought.
This was a bomb, after all-a matter of life and death.
“Olivia…”
“Shut up.
dreams!”
We’ll defuse it and live, or fail and die together. You think you can be a hero and make me owe you a life? In your
As Olivia spoke angrily, she began to study the bomb on his body.
She was so nervous that her hands, which were touching the golden thread, were trembling. No matter how hard she tried, she could not stop trembling.

The countdown was ticking away, leaving her no time to lose.
“Olivia, I don’t want to be a hero. The target is me. I just want you to live,” William said, watching Olivia become engrossed in working on the bomb as time slipped by, warmth in his eyes and fear in his heart.
If Olivia didn’t leave now, she would die!
He reached for Olivia’s shaking hand, trying to persuade her to leave, but stopped when he saw her tearful eyes.
“William, did you ever think that I wanted you to live too?”
She looked up at him, eyes brimming with hurt.
“You promised to make things up to me. Why are you so eager to face death now? I knew it, you’ve always been deceitful. I should’ve never trusted you!”
Olivia Clarke voiced, frustration evident. Yet, her hands moved with purpose, analyzing the bomb’s design.
During her training overseas with Thirteen and the group, she had learned the art of bomb defusal.
But she had never practiced on a real one, especially not this modified version connected to her bracelet. It left her feeling overwhelmed and lost.
Panic took over her thoughts.
“Olivia, does this mean you’ve forgiven me?” William asked, taken aback by her tearful words. It took a beat before he managed to gather his thoughts.
“First, we focus on surviving. If I die with you, I swear I won’t forgive you even in the afterlife!”
“Alright, I’ll take that as a yes.” William tried to console himself, letting out a rueful chuckle.
Ignoring his attempt at humor, Olivia’s trembling hands continued to examine the black gauze bound to William..
The area of the gauze was not large, and it was obviously loaded with explosives.
She wondered how powerful it is…
Time ticked away, and with no clear solution in sight, Olivia’s mind raced to figure out a way to minimize the potential damage to William.
She knew the unpredictable nature of Lone Wolf.
Such a tiny explosive shouldn’t be underestimated.
What’s the next move? Olivia thought, her anxiety peaking.
With just three minutes left…
“William, doesn’t your family have security experts? Haven’t they trained you in bomb disposal?”
“We’ve had some training, yes.”
“Then think! How do we defuse this?” There’s no time for modesty.
Nothing was more important than saving lives!
“This seems hastily a**embled, but it’s one of the latest from the Deep Web, the Txt850 bomb. Compact, yet ten times more powerful than standard explosives. When it detonates, it’ll level the building.”
William sat on the ground and explained calmly, despite the gravity of their situation.
However, He didn’t mention its other feature, once activated, it can’t be deactivated.
Therefore, it had earned a fitting nickname, “No Regret.”
The weight of his words sank in, and Olivia stared in disbelief.
“Knowing all that, you still transferred it to yourself? William, are you out of your mind?”
He responded with a soft smile, “Guess I turn a bit foolish when it comes to you.”
Olivia was speechless.
“Olivia, please, listen. You need to get out while there’s still time. If not for me, then for the children,” William pleaded. Retorting, she said, “You listen! We have two minutes. Don’t give in. You haven’t met Vivienne. She’s got such a fiery temper. Even Ezra is wary of her. If she learns I died without saying goodbye, she might just resurrect me to demand her bedtime story…”
