Yi Jinli hugged the person in his embrace. He lowered his head and gently placed his cheek against her neck. He was naturally aware of what she meant by mentioning the smell.
"Hao Yimeng intentionally made things difficult for her today and she had to look through so much rubbish. Only..." he thought to himself. "Sister, no matter what odor you have on your body, you don't have to stay away from me."
"But..." She was rather embarrassed and yet she did not know if it was because of the way she smelled or his hug.
"Since we've already promised to depend on each other, then what is there to avoid? Does it mean that one day if I am smelly Sister will deliberately stay away from me?" he retorted.
Ling Yiran remained silent for a while. She then took a deep breath and said, "All right, I understand. I won't do it again."
Glee flashed through his face, and only then did he hold her hand and return to the cramped rental apartment.
He had already prepared the rice and the dishes. Although the food had cooled by then, Ling Yiran still ate with relish.
"What happened today?" Yi Jinli asked.
Ling Yiran hesitated momentarily but still recounted the entire incident. After all, today's event had been blown out of proportion. Even if she did not share it, he would still be able to find out about it online.
Yi Jinli listened to her in silence. Once she was done narrating, he asked, "Aren't you angry?"
She chuckled resignedly at the question. "There's nothing to be angry about."
"She hadn't really lost a ring, she was just making trouble, wasn't she? Why aren't you angry?"
"Because there's no point in getting angry," she replied. "Do you know Yi Jinli?" she asked suddenly.
