As soon as Jasper caught wind of the gossip, he couldn't help but spice things up and share it with Keen.
Keen's face twisted into an expression of hurt and fury.
His mom was totally smitten by Marvin, that troublemaker! She was a bad mother!
Jasper added, "Remember last time? Your mom only managed to beat Rachel by a hair's breadth because she played dirty. She spilled orange juice all over Rachel and even played on the world-renowned violin, the Nocturne Stella."
"With all those advantages combined, she barely scraped by Rachel by 0.1 points. What's there to brag about?"
Keen's eyes dimmed with disappointment.
He had thought his mom was genuinely talented, but Rachel and Mr. Wilkinson said she was just lucky.
How could his mom, who hadn't even finished high school, possibly be more skilled than Rachel, a graduate from a top-notch academy?
Moreover, he had indeed seen his mom splash juice on Rachel.
Rachel, however, didn't seem to mind that. She asked softly, "Keen, do you know what your mom and dad went out to do?"
Keen shook his head, "I don't know."
Rachel inquired further, "Keen, are your mom and dad... really getting a divorce?"
"No way!" Keen instinctively retorted loudly. "I just asked Dad, and he said Mom wouldn't divorce him!"
Rachel's eyes glinted with a hint of concern.
Seeing this, Jasper patted Rachel's shoulder reassuringly.
"Rachel, I'll go find Haynie."
Rachel gave a gentle, reassuring smile, "Alright, I'll stay here with Keen."
On the way to the hospital, Rachel had casually mentioned to Jasper about Haynie's changing attitude towards Stella.
Jasper, upon hearing this, volunteered eagerly.
"Rachel, Haynie wouldn't care for someone like Stella, a mere middle school dropout. Don't worry, as long as I'm around, I won't let Haynie end up with that woman.
She's just using some coy tricks, like playing hard to get, but Haynie won't fall for her games."
