The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 231

Mr. Burton cast a knowing glance at Haynes, a sly smile playing on his lips.

"Oh, you're here to get some medicine for that young girl, aren't you?"

Jasper blinked in surprise. "Didn't you say you couldn't tell if Rachel was unwell?"

Mr. Burton chuckled, "True, I didn't see it. I guessed."

Jasper was left speechless.

This old man had a sharp tongue, just like Stella!

Haynes, who had heard from Jasper about the old man's eccentric nature, didn't take Mr. Burton's teasing to heart. Instead, he locked eyes with Mr. Burton, his voice steady and serious.

"So, how much time can you buy her?"

Mr. Burton glanced at Rachel once more. His eyes, though cloudy with age, were piercing like a hawk's, making Rachel feel exposed and vulnerable, as if he could see right through her.

He quickly averted his gaze and confidently declared, "I can cure her."

Both Haynes and Jasper were taken aback. Curing a terminal illness was no small feat.

They had scoured the globe for renowned doctors, all of whom were powerless against Rachel's condition. They weren't asking for a miracle, just a little more time for Rachel.

And here was this old man, claiming he could cure her. Was he genuinely confident, or just arrogant?

Haynes' eyes were as sharp as a knife's edge. "You haven't even examined her or reviewed her medical records, and you say you can cure her?"

Mr. Burton didn't flinch. "Why else do people call me the miracle worker?"

Haynes stared at him intently. "Mr. Burton, are you sure?"

Jasper glared at Mr. Burton, issuing a warning of his own. "Old man, if you're lying to us, don't expect a dime, and we'll make sure your reputation is in tatters."

Mr. Burton turned to Jasper, "Were any of the symptoms I mentioned wrong?"
