The Forgotten Luna (Adessa) novel Chapter 33

KAEL.

“Rasmus. You said you caught her in bed with Rasmus.” Her lips uttered these words, and rage surged within me.

I had no idea if I was furious because Desiree cheated on me or because Rasmus was my cousin, and I expected better from him.

“So we fought over her.”

She shook her head. “No. I was not aware of any confrontation. You tried to move on while he tried reaching out to you many times over the first few months of our marriage, and then he stopped. He began calling again when he heard about your accident, but Miranda didn’t want any other Alphas to know you were in a coma, so every time he called, like with other Alphas wanting to speak with you, Dexter or Landon would make up excuses. But before that accident, you would simply decline his call.”

The fucker had the audacity to talk to me like nothing had happened. I grunted in my head.

“Have you met him? Face-to-face?” I asked.

She shook my head. “We were supposed to attend an event, but you backed out when you found out he was attending.”

I asked because I was intrigued by Rasmus’ comment that she was beautiful. Did he have a thing for her too? Was Rasmus like Draco, wanting to have every woman I had? Why did he assist me in locating her?

Was he really helping us, or was this a trap?

Before I could contemplate more, a knock came to the door. I checked the window first and saw the man from downstairs carrying two food bags, alone and whistling.

He was fast, but then the fast food was just across the street.

I grabbed my wallet and pulled out some bills before opening the door, just enough so he wouldn’t see Adessa inside, and he could think we were already doing something.

He gave me the paper bags, and I handed him his money. His eyes twinkled again, and he thanked me before pulling something out from his back pocket.

“Here, take it. It’s a gift from me.” He said, and I couldn’t stop chuckling as I took the pack of condoms from him.

“Thanks, man.”

“No problem, sir. Getting her pregnant will make it messier. Better safe than sorry.” He stepped backward, gave me a salute, and then turned around.

I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face as I closed the door and was still smiling when I turned around. Adessa was watching me, her forehead creasing in confusion because a moment ago, I was scowling.

I wiggled the pack of condoms, and her eyes widened.

“Did you ask him to buy that?” She asked, and she looked flabbergasted. Her cheeks tinted with red, and it made her look innocent.

“Why not? We might need it.” I chuckled. I think I would enjoy teasing her. A little more wouldn’t hurt.

“No!” Her hands raised as she shook them, her head shaking as well while she continued to blush. “No. No. Not again. That one after we signed the divorce papers was already a mistake! It’s not going to happen again. Not ever.”

“What do you mean? Did we have sex after we signed the papers?” I asked, confused again.

Did I have a memory lapse? Because I was sure, I hadn’t seen her after we signed the paper.

Well, I did. In my dreams. She was riding me, and I was fucking her. Just the thought made something twitch inside my pants.

But hold on, was it a dream, or was it real?

“I don’t want to talk about it, Kael.” She sneered at me, then grabbed the paperbags from my hands and turned her back on me. She went to the small, round table nearby and took out the food inside—burgers, french fries, and soft drinks.

I just watched her, but I had no plan of letting the topic go.

“When was the last time we had sex?” I finally asked.

“I said…” She said in a sharp tone. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

I was about to growl at her, but the anger on her face made me stop.

“Don’t. Don't you dare say it was my fault!” She said, her lips quivering as her eyes watered. She raised her hand, pointing at me with her finger. "In the one year that we were together, I never pushed myself at you! If we had sex, it was because you wanted to! So you don't dare say…”

I grabbed her cheeks, cupping them, and her hands began hitting my chest, but I didn’t budge. I remained holding her face. “I didn’t say anything like that. All I was saying was, I couldn’t remember it because I was so drunk, but I didn’t say you raped me.”

Her chest was still heaving.

“Stop lying. I see it in your eyes. You were disgusted and furious.” Her hands on my chest pushed me away, and since I wasn’t expecting it, she was able to get free from my hold.

How do I tell her the disgust and anger were for Desiree and not her?

“Why are you even here? You kicked me out, and now you showed up. Do you want to see how much of my life is in a mess?”

“Can you calm down and let me explain? I didn’t travel all the way here just to argue with you.”

“I didn’t ask you to be here!” She glared at me again.

“Eat.” I pointed at the table.

“I’m not a dog.”

"Who said you're a dog? You’re a wolf! Now, Adessa, please. You’re definitely hungry. I think you’ll calm down once you’re full.”

"Oh, you have never seen a hungry Adessa.” She sneered at me before sitting back on her chair, and I couldn’t stop myself from smiling.

She was upset, borderline furious, yet she looked so cute when she glowered those eyes on me.
