The Forgotten Luna (Adessa) novel Chapter 9

KAEL.

After the rejection, I didn’t see Adessa the whole day. I heard she was in her office. I didn’t even bother to check what she was doing there. I had no idea what to do with her.

I knew she couldn’t stay here, especially since Desiree was planning to move in, but I was also concerned for her safety. Everyone knew she was my Luna and could be the target of any danger or maltreatment. I didn’t want her hurt.

My people might love me, but I was sure I didn’t have a good reputation with other packs. I lived in the solitude of my own territory. We thrived well both in industrial and agricultural businesses, so I had no need for other packs. I ruled as I pleased, and if I failed, I learned from it and started all over again.

Since I was indifferent to other packs, I was sure if they found out about her, they might take advantage. Of what? I could only imagine what terrible things they could come up with.

But then, I was sure Adessa was aware of this. So, surely she would not leave this territory. My pack is big. She could be anywhere, and I would never bump into her.

I tried to take her off my mind for the rest of the day, but I wasn’t successful. I could still remember the pain in her eyes, but I also saw the disgust in them whenever she looked at Desiree.

I didn’t want her to hate Desiree, as she was also a victim of our marriage, but at the same time, I didn’t like the pain in her eyes. I honestly had no idea what I should feel at the moment.

Still confused with my conflicted emotions, I asked Dexter to take me out, and we ended up in one of the bars a few kilometers away from home. Many were surprised to see me out, and most of the elderly in the pub had advised me not to drink as I might still be vulnerable, but I was not one to be told.

I think I drank a little too much.

The last thing I remembered was Desiree coming to the pub and summoning me home. I told her I would go home soon, so she left right away, but I ended up staying for another hour.

I wondered if Adessa had come for me every time I went out drinking.

Adessa.

Adessa.

Adessa.

I couldn’t stop thinking about her, and for some reason, I ended up in bed with her. I couldn’t deny that I had never felt as high and aroused as I felt, only for me to feel guilty when Desiree showed up and saw us. Desiree’s sobs echoed around the room as she ran away. I kept calling her name until I was startled by a door closing, and I woke up.

It was just a dream.

I tried to see if anyone was beside me, internally hoping Adessa was there, but I was alone. So I went back to sleep, hoping I could continue where I left off with my wet dreams — where my ex-wife was riding me like I was a wild horse, moaning sexily as I satisfied her.

But I was not lucky this time. No more dreams came.

My head was pounding by the time I woke up again. The sun was already high, and I realized I was in one of the guest rooms.

Naked.

I lay flat, arms wide open, as I looked around, trying to remember how I ended up here. But my mind gave me nothing.
