The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage novel Chapter 1470

Frowning, Glen snapped, "The Lionhearts will not let it slide if our family was indirectly culpable for Sif's death. But the fact of the matter is that they never showed discontent about the matter, and it's clear that they are guilty."

"You're being naive, Dad." Rob snorted, waving him off. "General Lionheart informed me that the Lionhearts simply can't afford any mishaps at the moment, as they are in a critical juncture with Simon Lionheart on the verge of ascension. That is why Titus wasn't punished for masterminding a conspiracy, and they didn't even bother investigating Sif's death. They just can't be bothered."

Then, sighing in disappointment, he continued, "And once Simon ascends, I'm sure they would come for us Turnbulls first thing. We have been preoccupied by our infighting because of certain rogues, even losing our greatest allies over a woman, and finding our former allies now our enemies."

Rob was not hiding his accusation against Frank and Vicky at all, and the latter slammed her hand on the table as she sprang to her feet.

"Watch your mouth!" she snapped. "How dare you beguile everyone here—we've long since seen through the Lionhearts' ambitions, and Titus' silence could well be an admission of his guilt. Even if he wanted to marry me, it was just to get his hand on our family's fortune, but you'd distort the truth with your nonsense?!"

"Who's distorting the truth here?!"

Rob stood up, rising to his feet and meeting Vicky's glare. "Now that I'm here, our family won't be intimidated, let alone by some wretch like the South Sea Crow!"

Then, turning and waving, he barked, "Come in!"

At his bellow, the ballroom doors were immediately kicked open, and dozens of fully-armed soldiers strode in—all of them men Rob brought back home.

Every soldier turned the safety of their rifles, each of them clearly seasoned and trained.

Even as the Turnbulls were left shocked, Rob was speaking smugly, "General Lionheart loaned these soldiers to me, and there are over 300 others outside. What other protection do us Turnbulls need? I alone am enough!"
