The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage novel Chapter 1880

There was clear disappointment in Governor Quill's eyes as he watched his fiftyish son stammer, unable to finish a coherent sentence.

Unbeknownst to him, Saul was merely afraid to face him because of his own misdeeds.

"Grandfather."

Nonetheless, even as silence ensued, a voice that was clearly hiding panic spoke from behind Gero.

It was none other than Rex himself.

Cara was almost petrified at the sight of her son standing out at this delicate moment. "Are you crazy, Rex?! What are you doing?!"

It was clear that the governor was very furious at the moment and basically interrogating Saul as if his crime was proven.

Would her son not be presenting himself in the governor's crosshairs if he spoke up now?!

And unsurprisingly, Cara saw Governor Quill glaring coldly at her son, his eyes judgmental and devoid of the warmth he afforded Frank. "Rex, was it? Gero's son? Do you understand what you're doing?"

The pressure from Governor Quill's glare left Rex nervous, and he actually thought of backing down.

However, for the sake of becoming the governor, he eventually gritted his teeth and straightened himself, forcing himself to meet his grandfather's glare while bellowing, "Yes, I do!"

"Hmm."

Governor Quill narrowed his eyes interestedly at Rex's words, while Frank turned toward him as well.

He had heard Cara and recognized that the bespectacled, seemingly mild-mannered man was Rex, the one whom Tim Cox had said was trying to kill the governor!
