Sally did not take the ring and instead took off her jacket, baring her left shoulder.
Although Frank was afforded a glimpse, he had no intention of ogling—instead, he was staring at the tattoo of a dragon head on Sally's shoulder.
"It's a terrible curse!" she exclaimed. "Everytime I felt sick and went to the hospital to check, every type of terminal symptom seemed to happen all at once—tumor growth, organ failure, everything!
"Worst of all, by the next visit, all the old symptoms will be gone, replaced by new symptoms!"
Frank understood right then. "So you're suggesting that the spiritron vein is torturing you to death!"
Sally flashed a pained smile, nodding. "That's why I have to help you if I don't want that, not to mention that it helps my research. It doesn't matter if you doubt me—I'm already on death's door!"
Frank naturally believed her—how else would a farmgirl suddenly turn into the kingpin of Shagan, doing anything she liked?
Nonetheless, Sally led Frank to the wooden table, took the ring on it, and turned a dial.
A holographic keyboard was projected, and Sally typed something before pressing enter.
Woosh!
Suddenly, the ring shot away, tearing through the roof as it streaked out of the building.
Frank and Sally promptly chased after it and found the ring hovering in front of the men that Frank had just killed, shrouding them in a strange red light.
Green fluid soon oozed out of their orifices toward the ring, leaving Sally gaping in shock.
She sniffed in self-deprecation. "I really shouldn't have done that if I knew this would happen!"
On the other hand, the ring returned to Frank's palm after absorbing the energies.
"How does it feel?" Sally quickly asked.
Frank shook his head—he did not feel anything.
Sally shrugged. "Well, I guess my hypothesis is right. The ring must absorb all the energies it had granted in the past to be fully restored, once again creating an entity of unparalleled might—like the hero in that tomb!"
Frank raised a brow. "You mean to say that there are more people who have been granted its power?"
Sally nodded. "These people are just a tip of the iceberg. Hell, even the death of all martial prodigies across the whole world might not be enough… Now, come with me."
