Chapter 723: 286 Outstanding Talents Emerge (First Update)_2
“I can’t do it, but I have a student who can,” Xia Zhuoyu said to Huang Yushuo, “Although she’s only a freshman, she’s very diligent, exceptionally talented, and will be a rising star in the field of biology. Just wait a few more years for her.”
“Who? Could anyone be more diligent than you?”
Coming from a poor family background, Huang Yushuo had been in the same high school class as Xia Zhuoyu and was aware of his family’s situation. It was hard to get into university back then, and Xia was always studying, even when he was working part-time. He admired someone else’s diligence?
“Yang Lin, my student,” Xia Zhuoyu went to boil water. “With her tenacity… her name will undoubtedly be found in the future edifices of domestic biology.”
Huang Yushuo sat on the sofa, joking aside.
But Xia Zhuoyu’s words surprised him.
Initially, he was amazed that a freshman like Bai Lian had caught the eye of her professor, and now Yang Lin had quietly gained Xia Zhuoyu’s favor?
Xia Zhuoyu, who had studied biology in D Country for ten years and had only managed to return safely to his homeland after much obstruction abroad with the intervention of Academician Ma, was the foundation of the domestic soybean field.
His sudden references to “my student” suggested he was truly satisfied with Yang Lin.

Beihong District.
When Jian Zhe came to see the Jian family, Jian Zhonghai was negotiating with President Yin, Jian Rong was talking with Bai Shaoqi and Song Min due to Bai Shaoke’s connection, and she was acquainted with both.
Jian Zhe was the only one sitting on the sofa. When he saw Bai Lian’s message, he stood up, politely greeted, “Grandfather, President Yin, I have to leave early for an errand.”
Although Jian Zhonghai didn’t look highly upon the businessman Bai Qiming, he was quite amiable towards the Yin family firmly established in Jiangjing.
When he heard Jian Zhe’s words, he glanced briefly and continued the conversation.
He didn’t care where Jian Zhe was going. Since Jian Zhe had gone to Xiangcheng to stand in for Jian Rong, there had been little news, and Jian Zhonghai did not pay much attention to him.
However, Jian Zhe’s father wanted to grab his son’s ear, but with Jian Zhonghai and President Yin present, he couldn’t behave so rudely and only followed Jian Zhe a little further, “Where are you off to?”
“To meet Sister Lian,” Jian Zhe showed his father the message on his phone, “She’s called me to have late-night food.”
Sister Lian, always that Sister Lian.
“Eat, eat, eat, that’s all you think about,” his father lamented in disappointment. “As for Miss Liu, she’s now getting along well with Jian Rong. Her father is a renowned professor in the Chinese department at Beicheng University, and he even introduced a professor from the Chinese department of Jiang University to Jian Rong.”
Jian Zhe recalled and realized Miss Liu was the lady he had been set up with the last time he returned to Beicheng.
But she seemed to prefer Jian Rong’s company.
He nodded earnestly, “Then I should congratulate Jian Rong.”
His father looked at Jian Zhe, at a loss for words.
As he passed Bai Shaoqi and the others, Jian Zhe greeted them politely too.
“Heading out so late?” Bai Shaoqi stood up out of politeness, “There aren’t many buses around here.”
I’ve already called a car,” replied Jian Zhe, showing his phone.
After he left, Song Min looked to Bai Shaoqi with a questioning glance, to which Bai Shaoqi replied, “He’s Jian Rong’s older cousin. He was sent to Xiangcheng in her place before. I haven’t seen him in a long time.”
Song Min nodded, not paying much mind, and President Yin also did not make any special arrangements to have Jian Zhe driven home.
Clearly, the Jian family didn’t say much about Jian Zhe, who had little to show for himself and didn’t warrant any special consideration.
