Chapter 725: Not So Simple Niece, Shocked Members of the Jian Family (Second Update)_2
As soon as Jian Zhe saw Ning Xiao, he became respectfully solemn, these were all seniors who’d been admitted to Jiangjing University, “Senior, follow me, there are volunteers with sleeve protectors behind.”
The dean of the Jian Family was the main person in charge of this event.
He didn’t get along well with the Jian Family, but Jian Zhe got along well with Bai Lian, and the dean liked what he saw in him. He even introduced Jian Zhe to a few people and distributed some tasks.
Ding Wenyang followed the staff to the rest area on the left side of the square and fastened the sleeve protectors around his arms.
It was only after Bai Lian and Jian Zhe had gone out that he tugged at Tang Ming’s sleeve and whispered, “…what kind of high-end event is this, really, can I handle it?”
“I don’t know either,” Tang Ming adjusted his sleeve protectors, “but it should help us gain a lot of points, haha.”
Ding Wenyang: “…”
Sometimes he found Tang Ming’s intelligence and sensitivity frightening, yet at other times, he thought him to be excessively thick-skinned.

The Jian Family arrived early.
Jian Zhonghai was not accustomed to this weather; he wore a thick coat as he stood at the red carpet entrance of Cultural Square, speaking with Jian Rong, “Did you manage to meet with Professor Feng?”
Professor Feng was indeed the teacher Mr. Liu’s daughter had introduced to him.
Jian Rong shook his head.
A professor from Jiang University was always busy, which was understandable. Jian Zhonghai wasn’t surprised. “When your second granduncle arrives, remember to greet him right away. He’ll acknowledge you after all.”
“Grandfather, don’t worry.”
As the Jian Family was talking, Jian Zhe came their way with a girl and volunteers.
Jian Rong recognized the girl at the front at a glance.
Her face was slightly downcast; she wore a top with pipa sleeves, the cuffs tightly gathered. Below was a white pleated skirt, its base lightly colored, embroidered at the bottom with alternating lines of iridescent gold and blue thread, showcasing an elaborate pattern. On top were red chamomile flowers, with butterflies fluttering amongst them.
A pure white cape was draped over her, interwoven with green grapevines.
Sensing the gaze, she looked over lazily. Her beauty was fresh, and the cold winter sunlight illuminated her from behind, radiating a certain indescribable charm.
Jian Rong was taken aback for a moment.
Even though he had only seen her once, he recognized her as a contestant from last year’s Lanting Awards in Jiangjing, who also seemed to be from Xiangcheng.
Jian Rong vaguely remembered that he had drawn a trip to Xiangcheng but in the end, Jian Zhe went in his place.
Upon seeing Jian Zhonghai and his father, Jian Zhe greeted them politely, “Grandfather, Father.”
Jian Zhonghai looked at Jian Zhe and the group of unfamiliar volunteers accompanying him, then withdrew his gaze, not lingering any longer.

“I asked you to come with your grandfather, but you didn’t,” Jian Rong’s father whispered in his ear: “Now you’re with these kids, later on, just follow me. Your grandfather came here specifically for your second granduncle, Jian Rong is here too, and you can’t be absent!”
Jian Zhe was just about to speak.
Ahead, the person in charge of Cultural Square was leading several smartly dressed individuals their way, followed by a couple of reporters taking photos of the elderly among them, obviously important figures.
Jian Zhonghai recognized one of them at first glance and quickly perked up, “Professor Feng.”
Jian Rong also shifted his gaze away from Bai Lian and went to greet Professor Feng, “Professor Feng, you are here today as well?”
Professor Feng was a professor from the Chinese Literature Department at Jiang University.
Jian Rong’s father, watching the mingling of the group, tugged at Jian Zhe’s sleeve, “See that? That’s Professor Feng. You should have met him originally…”
