The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 486

After Lucien said his piece, he rolled up his sleeves and was ready to go after Matthew. He took a few steps but noticed Dominic sitting in the car without budging.

Lucien was baffled. "Why aren't you going, Dominic?"

Dominic shook his head. "We can't do anything to him now. He's just a nobody who's not even worth our time. But at this point, he's a pawn being used by the higher-ups in their power plays. We can't mess with him."

Lucien chuckled and added, "I get it, Dominic. Our mission is to protect him. We're only going to teach him a lesson, not to actually take him out."

Dominic frowned. "The Wood family is involved, so let's not stir up any trouble. There will be plenty of opportunities to deal with him in time."

Lucien huffed. "Fine. We're letting it slide this time, but if he tries to boss us around again, I won't let him get away with it."

When Matthew entered the private card room, Jane approached with a beam and glanced behind him. "Wasn't there a woman with you yesterday? Where is she now?"

Matthew replied with a grin. "I came alone. Are you not happy to see me?"

Matthew had retrieved Scholarly Tradition and Golden Wisdom Pen from Reane. He happened to be there when Renae had a fallout with her family, so he spent two days with her to help her feel better.

Tonight, Matthew sensed trouble coming, so he sent Renae to Opulent Club.

Beaming, Jane walked over and wrapped her arms around Matthew's. She pressed her curvy figure against him and playfully replied, "I'm glad you're here. I was worried you might not show up.

"Your gambling skills blew me away yesterday. I want to learn how to play Blackjack from you. If you're willing to teach me, you can set the terms."

Matthew furrowed his brows. The fabric of her clothing was thin, and Jane clung to him so closely. When he felt her voluptuous figure, his heart started pounding.

Catching the hint in Jane's words, Matthew just went along with it. "The way you're saying it makes me look forward to that. How about we grab a drink tonight?"

As they chatted, they walked inside the private room.

Jane flashed him a seductive smile. "Sounds good. Let's have a drink tonight. Have a seat, and I'll round up the other players to join us." After saying that, Jane giggled and left the room.

Matthew spotted Sebastian, who was already at the table, and waved at him. "Good to see you again."

Sebastian realized Matthew had ignored his advice and came to the card room again. He couldn't help but think to himself, "He's done for. Another fool has fallen into the trap again."

When Matthew enthusiastically greeted Sebastian, he nonchalantly glanced over and lit a cigarette, puffing away in silence. Matthew didn't mind the cold shoulder. He just quietly sat there and waited.

Meanwhile, Jane entered another room and saw Caleb was still on the phone. "Are you still unable to reach Dwight?"

With a darkened expression, Caleb replied, "That bastard must be sleeping with a woman with his phone turned off. I can't get a hold of him. Let's find someone else."

Jane was fuming and wanted to let loose. With no way to reach Dwight, she had to accept it.

After thinking it over, Jane said, "The other two are out of Lambda City, so I'll step in and team with you."

Caleb looked reluctant. "No. We have a deal. You're only here to set things up, not to join the game."

Jane couldn't care less anymore. "Since I'm in this line of work, there's no turning back. It's been over ten years, and I'm already deep in it.
