Matthew was perplexed. "Do we really have 200 executives for 500 employees? Are you serious?"
Judson slowly said, "Let me be clear. At Silvaris Pharmaceuticals, we have a total of 500 employees. Out of those, 300 are workers and 200 are executives working in the office.
"With 190 executives on leave, that leaves us with ten executives. Do you understand what that means?"
How could there be 200 executives? Matthew gaped at Judson in disbelief with his eyes wide open.
Having ten executives and a few team leads would be more than enough, but this factory actually had 200 executives. This was just insane. There was no way a place like this could still be in business.
"You're right. We need to get rid of 90%, or better yet, 95% of the executives. Cutting out those deadweights is the only way to improve productivity."
Judson didn't see that coming from Matthew and remarked with a twinge of regret, "What a shame. You're merely a chauffeur. Your word doesn't mean anything."
Matthew didn't want to get into details about who he was, so he just chuckled and comforted, "Sure, I'm just a chauffeur, but isn't the boss beside me? She can fire all those ridiculous executives and hire ten new ones."
Would that work? Judson looked at Tracy with hopeful eyes, waiting eagerly for her to take a stand.
Tracy furrowed her brows, mulling over the feasibility of Matthew's proposal. Plus, it felt like it was something she needed to tell Rachel first.
She pulled out her phone when she saw Matthew winking at her like he was flirting. Her cheeks immediately turned rosy.
Noticing that Tracy hadn't said a word, Matthew smiled and nudged her. "Someone is still waiting for your reply, Ms. Lauder."
Reply? Tracy realized she had the wrong idea. With her face blushing, she stammered, "A-alright. We'll follow your suggestion. Let's lay off all the executives and bring in new management."
Judson was a little worked up. "Are you firing all the 200 executives?"
When Tracy heard that there were 200 executives, it only strengthened her resolve. "All of them need to go. We can't afford to have 200 freeloaders on the payroll."
