The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 621

Jerome was even more furious. He raised his hand and slapped Devonte. "Shut up, you fool!"

He needed Matthew for a favor and was counting on Matthew for the cure. That was why he couldn't afford to offend Matthew at all.

What was more important was Matthew's status. As the deputy mayor, even Levi treated Matthew with utmost respect.

Jerome had no clue about Matthew's background, but he knew for sure that Matthew wasn't someone he could cross. However, Devonte was playing with fire. If Jerome didn't stop Devonte, Jerome would be in hot water.

With his hand on his cheek, Devonte looked at Jerome in disbelief. "Did you just hit me, Uncle Jerome?"

Jerome was Devonte's close uncle. Since Devonte's father had three brothers and the neighbor didn't have any sons, they just took Jerome in.

Even though Jerome changed his last name, Devonte always called him Uncle Jerome, so they felt like a family. Otherwise, Jerome wouldn't have lined up such a fantastic job for Devonte.

Jerome snapped, "Are you trying to get me killed, you little brat? Even I have to be respectful toward Dr. Grant. Stop giving me a hard time. Just get lost already."

Devonte rarely saw Jerome lose his cool. Realizing the gravity of the situation, he didn't dare say a word and just scurried away.

Jerome walked up to Matthew. "I'm sorry, Mr. Grant. I had no idea that Devonte would use my name to his advantage. I won't let him get away with it. I'm here to show my support for you. As for Devonte, I'm on board with your decision, whether you decide to suspend him or fire him."

With a stern expression, Matthew stated, "I was originally thinking of suspending Devonte, but now he needs to be fired. Starting today, he is no longer part of Silvaris Pharmaceuticals."

Jerome was shocked. Matthew didn't beat around the bush and straight-up announced the firing.

Still, Jerome didn't have the nerve to say anything about it. "I'll tell Devonte the news. This isn't the right place for me to say anything else, so I'll be going now."

Jerome was hoping to ask Matthew for treatment, but with all these people around, he couldn't bring it up. He'd have to wait for a better moment next time.

After saying that, Jerome just turned to leave.

Everything went so quiet that the drop of a pin could be heard. The 200 executives stared at Matthew, their faces showing different emotions.

As the director of the Food and Drug Administration, Jerome supervised Silvaris Pharmaceuticals. It was shocking that he had actually backed down.
