After having a little something to fill her stomach, Wendy didn't feel as hungry anymore and began working on her plan.
"Looks like the date is going well today. Since it's a special occasion, how about having a drink to celebrate?"
Kingston nodded. "Sounds like a great idea. I'll grab the wine, and we can have a few."
He walked into his room and turned the place upside down before coming back with a bottle of wine. It was an old bottle with a metal cap, and its packaging was unique.
Wendy was taken aback. "How old is this bottle of wine?"
Kingston smirked. "This was a thank-you gift from a patient Dad treated 30 years ago. He doesn't drink, so it's just been sitting there ever since. Let's take this authentic metal-capped wine as the celebratory drink today."
Wendy hurriedly shook her head. "Wait. This wine is too expensive. It's probably worth at least a few thousand dollars."
She was there when her grandpa bought a bottle of wine as a gift. She remembered it was for her brother's job, and the bottle was identical to this one. So, she knew how precious this wine was.
Kingston chuckled. "Since today's such a happy day, let's just drink up."
As he spoke, he took three glasses out and filled them to the brim.
Matthew quickly waved his hand. "I don't drink at all. I fall asleep when I touch alcohol. I really can't handle it."
Before Kingston could say anything, Wendy jumped in first. "We have to drink today. Take it as a toast for our wedding. Come on. Raise your glasses, and let's clink."
With a helpless shrug, Matthew raised his glass and toasted with them before gulping it all in one shot.
Just after Matthew downed the drink, he held his head and complained, "This feels awful. My face is all flushed. I can't drink anymore."
Wendy giggled and continued, "Good things come in pairs. You just had a drink with me, so you need to clink with Kingston now."
With no choice, Matthew picked up his glass and clinked with Kingston's. He then threw his head back and downed it all. After that, he stood up and held his head.
"I'm done. I feel dizzy. I need to crash."
