The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 695

Jonas stared down at the hole in his chest, horrified as his eyes threatened to bulge out of its sockets. "You… How could you?"

Matthew retorted coldly, "Why can't I?"

Jonas was in so much pain that his face distorted, and he gritted his teeth, wanting to scream. However, the sound he emitted was no less than a whimper, as if he was about to run out of breath very soon.

"There's a ton of things money can buy, like your house, clothes, food, and your luxury cars. Even beauties would kneel in the face of money, and even men would turn into lapdogs given a sufficient sum.

"But… Why can't it buy me a little mercy?" Jonas probed.

Matthew began to reload the magazine with bullets again, and his eyes were fixed on the bullets and magazine with much focus.

However, he still replied casually, "Because I've made up my mind to kill you!"

Jonas then thought about it carefully, wondering why Matthew would have made up his mind to kill him. However, the excruciating pain in his chest prevented him from giving his full concentration, and he felt his body getting weaker by the second.

At the same time, Jonas felt as if the air around him was becoming more precious than life itself, for he felt as if it would disappear if he didn't breathe in more.

After he took a few breaths, Jonas felt a little better, and he asked, "Why'd you make up your mind to kill me so quickly? Is it all because of those people who contracted those weird diseases? You don't even know them, so why are you taking revenge for them?"

At Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals' entrance, Kingston had finally arrived, panting. He noticed Matthew's car and realized that there wasn't anyone in the car, but he couldn't bring himself to move any further.

Kingston then supported himself by putting his hands on his knees and bent over, panting for his breath with his mouth wide open. All of a sudden, he widened his eyes at the sight of a certain item on the ground.

Though Kingston maintained his stance, he stared at the item, almost forgetting to breathe. There was a gun on the ground—a sniper rifle.

The moment Kingston snapped out of his daze, he checked his surroundings, but he noted that there wasn't anyone around. After a moment of hesitation, he bent over to pick up the rifle with much effort because it was pretty heavy.

Following, he thought of how Matthew might be in danger and ran toward the back of the factory while hugging the gun.

However, he didn't have much strength in his legs after running all the way here, so he couldn't run with the gun in his arms as well.

Both of Kingston's legs were sore, and even numb to a point. All this while, he had been relying on inertia to pick his legs up to run, but he ended up not being able to run any further when he almost reached the building. Thus, he slowly walked into the office.
