The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 740

Matthew let out a bitter expression when he heard the word "Juprus" because he didn't know what it meant either. He had searched through the internet, but the words "Juprus" just didn't seem to exist.

Besides, "Juprus" was a rare—nearly unheard of—word, and there weren't any other words that could relate to it. It just didn't make sense.

If Matthew ever had a chance to meet his mentor, the first thing he would ask the latter was what "Juprus" really meant. Unfortunately, he had only gone through six of the Eight Medical Sects and hadn't yet completed his task.

There was no way Matthew could tell Caleb any of these, but he fell into a dilemma when he saw how eager Caleb was. Should he accept Caleb or not?

Caleb might seem human, but he had eyes everywhere, which would be an extremely useful trait. For example, he helped to track down every movement of The Misfortune's Veil and their whereabouts.

Seeing that Matthew wasn't speaking, Caleb slowly let out a disappointed expression. "I know that I don't belong in respectable circles since I'm only a gambler…"

Right then, Matthew interrupted him. "Don't say that. Since you're willing to join me, then come along."

Caleb was stunned. He never expected Matthew to agree, so he pointed at himself and asked again, "Are you sure you're gonna accept me? Really?"

Matthew smiled and replied, "You might be a gambler, but I'm a slaughterer, and neither of us can be considered respectable. Do you think it'd be that weird for us to hang out together?"

Caleb then smiled joyfully. "Thanks! Really, thank you so much! It isn't weird at all!"

Caleb was truly happy. When he first met Matthew at the casino, he didn't know that the latter was a slaughterer. Luckily, he became one of Matthew's buddies now.

Matthew's expression grew serious as he said, "I don't actually see an issue with playing cards, because you'd need to have some fun in life besides working. All of the elderly people in our village play Blackjack and Poker to pass the time too.

"But they're doing it as a form of entertainment, not treating it as their jobs, nor making people fall into their schemes."

With that, Caleb finally understood what Matthew meant. He became serious as well and replied, "I understand now. I'll keep it small if I gamble in the future, and if the bet goes over 100 dollars, I'll stay away from it."
