Talking it over with a smoke?

Rachel looked even more puzzled. "How can that work? Kayden wants money. A cigarette won't cut it."

With a knowing smile, Matthew remarked, "This is between guys, so you wouldn't get it. Just wait here. I'll have a word with him."

After saying that, Matthew entered Jayden's office and closed the door.

Rachel shook her head and made her way to the bench in the hallway. After taking a seat, she fixed her gaze on the office door ten yards away, waiting to see what would happen. She wasn't convinced that one cigarette would do the trick.

Upon entering the room, Matthew made a beeline for the couch.

Meanwhile, Kayden was about to rip off the tape and check out the local specialties inside the box when he saw Matthew walk in. He sealed the box right away, fixing his cold gaze on Matthew. "What makes you think you can just walk in?"

Ignoring the question, Matthew made himself comfortable on the couch and gestured to Kayden. "Come on over. We need to talk."

Kayden flashed a dismissive grin at Matthew. "You think you can talk to me? I'm busy. Not just anybody gets to do that."

Matthew's smile faded, his expression turning grim. "You don't have the full picture yet. Let's sit and talk it through."

Kayden scoffed. "What exactly am I missing here? Listen closely—you're not in a position to talk to me."

Matthew got up and came to the desk. "I was going to speak to the Fullers directly, but they're avoiding me. That's why I'm here with you. Are you aware why the Fullers are hiding and refusing to show up?"
