The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 792

Matthew had a nonchalant expression as he said, "You don't have to do that. I'm doing pretty well now."

If Jovian had truly wanted to help him out, he would have talked to Matthew privately or even asked if Matthew needed any help. Yet Jovian simply stated Matthew's private business outright without first seeking his opinion.

Jovian had even pointed out that Matthew had been in prison and was divorced, which clearly was a sign that he wanted to humiliate Matthew while boasting about his promotion to district leader.

Matthew hated people like Jovian the most.

Seeing how Matthew rejected him, Jovian knitted his brows together. He had wanted to let Matthew reap some benefits first just so that it would easily work in his favor when he wanted Matthew to reconcile with Adrian's friend during the mediation.

As long as Matthew apologized to Adrian's friend and received his forgiveness, it would mean that the mediation had turned out successful. Then, Jovian's promotion to district leader would be guaranteed.

However, Matthew had rejected him. Jovian felt humiliated, and his expression darkened. "Matthew, I'm telling you, there are a lot of people who are trying to curry favor with me. I'm only offering to help you because you were my classmate."

Matthew became even more confused. He wasn't really close to Jovian back then, and they never really had any recent encounters either, so he couldn't really figure out why Jovian was so enthusiastic about "helping" him out.

Whatever it was, Matthew still wanted to reject his offer, so he said, "I really don't need your help to find me a job."

Hearing his response, Jovian turned to their classmates and smiled. "Look here, everyone. You heard it all—he's the one who rejected my offer, so don't call me heartless for not helping him."

Immediately after, all of them looked at Matthew strangely. Soon enough, someone started to speak up, "Matthew, you're lucky that Jovian wants to help you. Stop trying to act like you're fine when you're clearly not, alright?"

Next to him was another person who said, "That's right. Now that you're divorced and your company's gone, you have nothing. You should be grateful that Jovian's helping you."

Another person spoke up haughtily, "Why can't you see what's good for you, Matthew? Jovian's soon to be a district leader, but he still cares so much about you despite being flooded with tons of other work. He doesn't discriminate against your identity as an ex-offender either, so stop being so ignorant!"
