Matthew rang one doorbell after another.

After a while, he started getting irritated. Pierre was one of the landlords of the building, so they should have recognized him. Why did it feel like no one had ever heard of him?

Matthew felt that something was off. He started to wonder if Ansel had provided him with the wrong information.

With a click, the lock made a sound, and the door swung open.

A woman in a burgundy nightgown was rubbing something with both hands. It was probably a skin care product as she gently patted her neck.

Her name was Alyssa Davenport. Her delicate makeup made her super gorgeous. She had adorable eyes and rosy lips.

Upon seeing Matthew, Alyssa was stunned for a moment before saying, "Hey! You made it. Hurry up and come on in."

As she spoke, she extended her delicate hand and pulled Matthew inside.

Matthew was utterly confused, thinking there was some kind of misunderstanding. Smiling, he explained, "My last name is Grant. I'm trying to find a friend with the last name, Davenport."

Alyssa chuckled. "My last name is Davenport. It's me you're looking for. Come in, and have a seat on the couch. I'll get you some water."

Davenport? Even though Matthew felt something didn't quite add up, he had at least met someone with the last name of Davenport. Maybe Alyssa was related to Pierre.

Thinking about this, Matthew settled down and came to the couch.

He looked around inside. The place was super fancy, and the coffee table alone was something else. The wooden frame had a subtle wood scent to it.

The coffee table's surface was made of marble, but Matthew couldn't identify the quality precisely. On the right side, there was a carving of a mountain with a pond and two fish swimming in it. Judging by the design, he knew it was something unique.

As Matthew remained seated on the couch, Alyssa walked over with a fragrance filling the air. She set the water down in front of him and sat closely beside him.
