Chapter 379 How Dare He
Gussie had studied abroad for several years. The coffee she had made tasted very aromatic.
Nathan saw how wary she was. He wondered warily, “She can’t spit in the coffee, can she?”
“Walden and Civil Disobedience? That’s a dangerous way of thinking…” Nathan laughed lightly as he picked up a book on the
desk, accosting.
Gussie, however, held her chin up and pouted gently in a cute way, ignoring Nathan’s accost.
Nathan asked, “What’s on your mind?”
Gussie then said, “I’m wondering if you are asking me to go to practice is as malicious as asking me to play badminton with
you!”
“Ahem, no way. I really can’t play badminton.” Nathan explained.
Gussie looked at her in disbelief. Then she carefully tugged at her skirt and folded her beautiful legs in a different direction.
The atmosphere was awkward when Nathan received a phone call from Wendy.
Nathan thanked Wendy sincerely for helping him to defuse the awkwardness. He hurriedly answered the call.
“Ms. Wendy, what can I do for you?” Nathan said with a smile, speaking to Wendy with increasing ease.
Wendy was also in a good mood and said, “Our industry chain has fully broken through Porter Group alliance’s blockade and is now starting a major counter–attack Just now, I’ve received several calls from people who have come to me to find out what’s going on. They wanted to know, by the way, whether I have fifty billion dollars or not.”
Nathan said, “Hmm, and then?”
Wendy said, “I got some death threats too.”
Nathan said, “Don’t pay any attention to them. Just do your own thing. I’ll keep you safe. They’ll have to deal with me first before they touch you!”
The death of James showed the men that it was not enough to solve Wendy, but Nathan was the big boss.
Even if they did kill Wendy, no one would be able to withstand Nathan’s insane revenge.
James, who lived in the military compound, had been killed and decapitated. So where else in the world was safe?
Nathan talked to Wendy for a while and then hung up the phone.
“It’s a dangerous time these days. You need to be careful too.” Nathan said after he put the phone down, “But you’re also very trustworthy, turning down so many temptations.”
Gussie asked in surprise, “You knew all about it?”
She was the secretary of Poly Capital, so naturally, she was in a position of power. The conspirators had sent people to contact her, offering generous terms. But she had refused them all.
She always believed that Poly Capital would give her room for advancement and that she could compete with the Reagan family with her efforts!
Nathan said calmly, “I don’t go to the company much, but I know everything big and small. I even know a lot of people are betraying the company’s interests.”
Gussie said, “Well, why don’t you find these people and fire them all?”
“Fire them?”
“That would be too easy on them!”
“The information they gave away was all leaked by me, just to mislead Natasha.”
“When this business war is over, I’ll get them imprisoned for a few years.”
Nathan said with a sneer. There was no room for mercy for traitors and they would be able to make use of traitors.
Gussie realized how sinister Nathan was as a capitalist. It was like torturing a man’s mind….
Nathan finished his coffee and said with a smile, “Ms. Reagan, can I have a refill?”
