“Wait!” Rachel suddenly thought of an issue. 

Ethan had planted some vegetables in his garden, so it was no wonder he had vegetables in his dishes. However, how did he get grilled salmon, roasted chicken, and eggs? 

“How do you have meat here?” 

Once Rachel asked the question, George reacted. Right, they had locked Ethan away in the deep mountains to cut off his access to resources and information from the outside world. How did he get meat? 

Ethan answered calmly, “I asked the guards to buy them. 

“Ah?” George and Rachel were stunned. 

He asked the guards to buy them? The guards were there to keep an eye on Ethan, so how did they end up taking care of him instead? 

The two were at a loss for words. However, Ethan did not see an issue with this. If he wanted to, he could easily make Stephen send a cow over every day. 

Nonetheless, they all shared quite a pleasant dinner. 

George felt a mix of emotions. It was only with Ethan here that he managed to have a good time with his enemy, the South Regent. Once they left this mansion, they would have to fight against the South Regent again. 

As the South Regent and his subordinates helped Ethan clean up the dishes, the South Regent said, “That was such a filling meal. But it’s getting late, so I should be leaving soon. Bye, Lord Rivers.” 

Before the South Regent left, he glanced at George and Rachel but said nothing. George watched him leave and did not follow suit. 

Ethan sat back on the couch and asked indifferently, “Is there anything else?” 

“Teach me some ways to deal with the South Regent,” George said. 

This was what he was here for. Ethan mentioned something to him when they first arrived, but Ethan then pushed the topic to the South Regent, and the South Regent passed it back to Ethan. In the end, George got nothing out of them. 

Now that the South Regent had left, George mustered the courage to ask Ethan again. 

Ethan calmly replied, “Maybe I’ve been too indirect previously, so I’ll say it directly—I won’t teach you.” 

George was rendered speechless. That was terribly direct. It felt as if his heart had been

Ethan continued speaking, “If there’s nothing else, you guys can leave. I’m preparing to shower and sleep soon. Or perhaps you want to stay outside my house for the entire night?” They had been given the order to leave. Ethan utterly refused to help them. 

George brought Rachel down from the mountains in disappointment. Seeing how ruthless Ethan was, Rachel also felt sad and wronged inside. 

“How can he treat us like this? After all, he stayed at our place for three years, didn’t he?” She had forgotten that without Ethan, George would not have been able to serve another term as governor, and the Lowes would not enjoy the status they held today. 

On their way home, George said slowly, ‘Rachel, forget about Ethan.” 

“What?” Rachel thought that she misheard him 

George wanted to say, “You’re not worthy of him.” However, it sounded too hurtful, so he swallowed his words and said, “In the future, you’ll only become Stephen’s wife.” 

Rachel’s expression became sullen at the mention of Stephen. Stephen still had not formally apologized to her! He did not even understand what he did wrong. As long as he did not understand, she would never forgive him! 

As the two reached the Lowes‘ residence, they realized that Stephen was also back and was having his meal. 

Once Stephen saw them, he asked curiously, “What have you

to?”
