The guardian's sword by Taking Cigarette novel Chapter 1878

“My expectation isn’t to have you die in battle. I’d rather you live well and have your own life. You’re doing good now, and I‘m pleased. You have not failed me,” Lydia said truthfully.

Benji and Derrick could not stand it anymore. The two men cried their eyes out in the private room.

The waiter who opened the door was so shocked that he closed the door and left.

Lydia, Anita, and Gabe made Derrick and Benji sit beside the dining table.

The two men cried while eating and drinking. They did not know whether it was white wine or tears that they drank. Before they knew it, they were drunk.

Gabe also spoke emotionally as he recalled the days of fighting for their lives with Lydia, Anita, and the others on the battlefield.

“Wipe away your tears. You’re men who have gone through fire and blood. Why are you acting like women?” Lydia said, handing over a napkin.

Derrick and Benji quickly wiped the tears from their faces, but their eyes soon watered again.

Lydia then changed the subject and said, “Gabe, Derrick, one of you is the chief of police, and the other is the director of the prosecutors’ office. Both of you held government posts. You’re only protecting Dragon Kingdom differently. Benji, you too. I heard you’re now the chairman of Liamson Security Services. You’re a tycoon and entrepreneur. You’re driving Dragon Kingdom’s economy and also contributing to Dragon Kingdom…”

“Commander Bjorne, stop consoling us. We know what we’re capable of,” Gabe said with a bitter smile.

Derrick also said, “Yeah, we live peaceful lives here. How can we compare to you? Commander, you and Anita are on the front lines fighting against the enemy and defending Dragon Kingdom’s land. Compared to you and Anita, we’re too…”

Derrick wanted to say they were too shameful, but he could not say it out loud.

“It’s no big deal. Take it easy…”

Lydia took a sip of wine, put down his glass, looked at Benji, and asked, “Benji, I heard from Gabe that your company is in trouble?”

Benji looked at Lydia in disbelief and turned to look at Gabe.

“Gabe, how can you share everything? It’s my own business. How could you make Commander Bjorne worry about me?” Gabe instantly turned away in embarrassment, acting like he knew nothing.

Lydia smiled and said to Benji, “Benji, just tell us if you’re in trouble. We’re old comrades in arms. Is there anything you can’t tell us?”

“No, Commander Bjorne. I couldn’t trouble you…” Benji was so nervous that he was extremely respectful without realizing it.

Anita could not stand it anymore and snapped, “Just tell us when we ask you to tell us. What’s the matter? Do you want Commander to give you a direct order?”
