Chapter 34
Chapter 34
“It’s fine,” Maggie replied.
She hadn’t expected it to be a one–of–a–kind gown, and she felt a little disappointed.
The store’s gowns ranged from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars, and some even surpassed a million. However, after seeing that gown, even the most expensive
ones in the store seemed rather plain in comparison.
In the end, Maggie chose a simple yet elegant off–white silk gown with delicate floral
embroidery.
While she was paying for it and having the gown wrapped, she overheard two salespeople talking nearby.
“This necklace and gown together cost over 3 million dollars. It’s like wearing a villa. Rich people are really extravagant,” one of the salespeople whispered.
“That’s true. And this gown will probably only be worn once…” the other one replied.
3 million…
Maggie was taken aback. Even if she could afford it, she wouldn’t be willing to spend such an amount on a single gown.
She shook her head and left the store.
Back home, Jessica called to invite her out for a big dinner.
When she learned that Maggie would be attending a banquet the next evening, Jessica
rushed over the next afternoon to personally do her makeup and styling.
Maggie had a good eye for fashion, and with the gown she had chosen and Jessica’s careful makeup, she looked graceful, elegant, and perfectly presented, with a clean and beautiful
aura that radiated confidence.

That evening, when Johnny came to pick her up, he was immediately stunned when he saw her. “You look beautiful. This gown suits you perfectly.”
“Thank you,” Maggie replied with a smile.
As they got into the car, Johnny said, “So, you’re officially returning to the company
tomorrow?”
“Yes,” Maggie answered.
“Perfect timing. Julia will also be officially joining the company tomorrow. I’ll introduce you to her-” he began, but then realized she might not know who Julia was.
He quickly added, “She’s the genius in algorithms I mentioned last time.”
Maggie’s expression froze for a moment. “Julia? You’re telling me her name is Julia? Is J for
Jungle in her name? She’s the one who just returned from Country A?”
Johnny nodded, surprised. “Yes, do you know her?”
“She’s my half–sister,” Maggie said, her voice flat.
Johnny was stunned.
He knew a bit about Maggie’s family situation, but he hadn’t expected this coincidence.
Maggie’s expression was cold as she added, “She’s also Franklin’s mistress.”
The car abruptly slammed on the brakes.
Johnny stared at her in disbelief. “You-”
“I’m fine,” Maggie said, her face calm. “I just don’t want her to join our company. You can call it nepotism, but I don’t approve of it.”
Johnny’s expression grew serious, and without hesitation, he agreed, “I respect your
decision.”

Maggie’s heart warmed. “Thank you.” After a brief pause, she added, “But this means you’ll be losing a genius.”
Johnny shook his head with a smile and glanced at her. “She’s indeed a genius in
algorithms, but compared to you, she’s worthless.”
The last words he said were extremely serious.
Maggie was taken aback, thinking Johnny was exaggerating. He must have sensed her confusion because he laughed and said, “I’m being honest.”
Maggie didn’t expect him to say that, and after a moment of thought, she asked, “She’s been interviewing for quite some time. Why hasn’t she joined the company yet?”
Johnny shook his head. “She said there were some things she needed to take care of. I didn’t
ask for the details.”
After about ten minutes, they arrived at their destination.
Maggie was lost in thought.
