Stepping back, I rose from the bed. “Take that back.” I said, standing with my back facing her.

I didn’t hear her rise to her feet, until I felt her hand around my waist, from behind.

I realised I couldn’t watch her leave, the second she took her first step toward the door.

I pulled her back, and dragged her to the bed.

“Didn’t I tell you the doctor said you should rest?” I asked, on top of her

“I can rest in the house you gave me,” she said, avoiding my gaze by turning her face to the side.

“It’s just the land cursed. The empty land I mean.”

I didn’t know why I just said that, I was supposed to let her leave. But everytime she tried to leave, I found myself wanting her back.
