The Heart Of The Beast The Alpha's Pawn (Sonia and Ramon) novel Chapter 248

Chapter 248

RAMON’S POV

As the first light of dawn crept over the horizon, I stood on the balcony, watching the pack below as they prepared for the battles to come. Warriors sharpened their blades, mended their armor, and whispered prayers to the moon.

The council room was alive with the clatter of maps being unrolled, orders barked, and warriors moving with purpose. The weight of impending war hung thick in the air, suffocating and relentless. I stood near the head of the table, my hands planted firmly on its edge, my eyes scanning the map of our territories. Every movement, every decision, felt like a piece of a fragile puzzle that could either save or destroy us.

And then there was

She stood across from me, her posture e straight, her voice calm but commanding as she issued instructions to the gathered leaders. Her hand moved over the map with precision, marking routes and strategies, her determination radiating through the room.

But all I could see was the growing pallor of her face, the way she swayed slightly when she thought no one was looking

Enough,I said, my voice cutting through the noise.

The room fell silent as all eyes turned to me. Sonia looked up, her brows furrowing.

What is it, Ramon?she asked, her tone sharp with impatience.

I took a step toward her, my jaw tightening. You need to rest,I said, keeping my voice low but firm

Her eyes flashed with irritation, and she straightened her spine. I’m fine.”

No, you’re not,” I said, my voice rising slightly. You’re pushing yourself too hard, Sonia. You’re pregnant, for the moon’s sake. You shouldn’t even be here

The room fell into an uncomfortable silence, the tension thick enough to cut with a blade.

Sonia’s lips pressed into a thin line as she placed her hands flat on the table, leaning forward slightly. Let me make something very clear, she said, her voice steady but cold. I am Luna of Bloodmoon. This is my pack, my family, my fight. And I will not sit idly by while everyone else does the work.

You’re carrying our children!” I snapped, my frustration spilling over. Your priority should be their safety, not-

-My priority is this pack, she interrupted, her voice rising. And that includes our children. You think I don’t want to rest, Ramon? You think I don’t feel the weight of this every single second? But I can’t afford to stop. Not now,

tone cautious.

Her words hit me like a blow, and for a moment, I couldn’t speak. The room remained silent, the tension thick and suffocating

Finally, Cade, still pale and recovering from his injuries, cleared his throat. Maybe we should give them the room,he suggested, The other leaders murmured in agreement, quickly gathering their things and filing out of the room. Within moments, it was just the two of us. Sonia straightened, her hands still resting on the table as she avoided my gaze. Her shoulders were tense, her breathing uneven.

Sonia.I said softly, stepping e closer

Don’t,she said, her voice trembling

I stopped, my chest tightening as I watched her. For all her strength, all her resolve, I could see the cracks beginning to form.

You don’t have to do this alone,” I said, my voice gentle.

She finally looked up at me, her eyes filled with a mix of anger and pain. I know that,” she said, her voice breaking. But I need to do this, Ramon. I need to feel like I’m doing something. Because if I donShe trailed off, her hands clenching into fists.

I moved to her side, resting my hand over hers. Because if you don’t, you’ll feel powerless,” I finished for her.

She molded, tears glistening in her eyes. Tiu scared, she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. I’m scared for the pack, for you, for the twins. And the only way I know how to light that fear is by staying busy. By leading. By doing something.

I sighed, my anger melting away as I pulled her into my arms. She resisted for a moment before finally leaning into me, her head resting against

my chru.

You’re the strongest person I know,I said softly, my hand running through her hair. But you don’t have to carry this alone. That’s why we have the council the warrions, me. We’ll fight this together.”

She pulled back slightly, her hands resting on my chest. I know,” she said, her voice steadying, But I won’t be sidelined, Ramon. I need to lead. I need to be here, with you with them.

I looked into her eyes, seeing the fire that had always drawn me to her the unwavering determination, the fierce loyalty. How could I argue with

that?

Fine,” I said finally, my tone soft but firm. But promise me you’ll take breaks. You’ll rest when you need to

She nodded, a faint smile tugging at her lips. I promise.

The rest of the day passed in a blur of strategy meetings and preparations. Sonia threw herself into t decisive. And though I still worried, I couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride as I watched her.

the work, her focus sharp, her commands

She was everything a Luna should be, strong, fearless, and unwavering

As night fell, the war room emptied, leaving just the two of us once again. Sonia sat at the table, her head resting on her hand as she studied the map.

You should eat.” I said, setting a plate of food in front of her.

She glanced up at me, her exhaustion evident. Thank you,” she said softly
