Chapter 30
AS POV SONIA’S
“What happened to you?” I asked again just in case she had not heard me before.
She blinked multiple times, and rose to her feet, despite my hands still stuck on her shoulders.
Let’s talk in private,” she said.
Pulling her body out of my touch, I jolted in shock, as I was sprung into reality by an invisible force.
I didn’t notice Ramon’s eyes on me, as I followed behind the alpha who was already halfway out of the room.
She didn’t stop until she opened the door to another room, and stepped in
I followed behind her, and shut the door. It was at this point I became really worried. I couldn’t for the life of me explain what 1 had just done.
It had never happened before. Sure, I felt people’s grief like it was my own. How else could a healer heal, if they couldn’t put themselves in other people’s shoes? But it had never manifested in such blatant disregard of others personal space, much less an alphas.
If Ramon wasn’t going to kill me, she probably would, for embarrassing her.
But when she turned around, and a smile graced her face, I was taken aback.
“You really are a healer.”
I wasn’t expecting those words to come out of her mouth. She sounded pleased, and also very much relieved. It made my thundering heart relax a little.
“I don’t know if I am one. I just heal people sometimes,” I said as modestly as I could muster.
“Nonsense!” She dismissed my words with a wave of her hand. “I knew your mother. She was the strongest healer I ever encountered. Unfortunately, not many people knew just how powerful she was.”
I had stopped listening long after she said she knew my mother. For so long, I’ve wanted to meet someone who could tell me about her.
Her name was like a curse in my household. You were not to mention, or ever whisper it. So I had gone this long in ignorance. Suffering in silence because my father rebuked every mention of my mother.
“You- you really knew her?” I stuttered.
She took a step and then another step closer to me. Stopping in front of me, it was her turn to grab my shoulders and squeeze gently. “I knew her. She was just as beautiful as you are. Thinking about it now, you look just like her. Maybe that is why you have her powers. And if it’s true, if there’s an iota of truth to what I feel, then maybe you can help me.”
She dropped to her knees in front of me, as her hands dropped to the side. That movement startled me, and I almost ran away. But her hand grabbed my feet instead, and she cried
There was that raw slicing pain again. It hit my chest like a whirlwind, and threatened to swallow me.
Something had happened. Something bad. Every part of my body was compelled to take away her misery. To do everything I could so she would simile again.
“Why are you so sad?” I found my voice a few seconds into her tears.
“Because it hurts so bad.” The sound of her voice was inuffled by her mouth on my feet.
This was awkward, but I couldn’t even dwell on that. The pain was so great, it defeated every other feeling.
“I want to know once and for all if the moon goddess has placed a curse on me. That’s what they all whisper behind my back.
1/2
They mock, and berate me because I’m a woman who is an alpha. You would think with the progression of the world, people would be more illuminated. But no! They say I’m cursed because every man I love dies!”
My heart bled for her. 1 understood her tears now. It wasn’t easy to be humiliated because of situations you had no control of
It was the same way Ramon’s wolves mocked her. Just because their alpha hated me, they also hate me. It wasn’t an easy life to hve, and I could relate to the alpha.
“Please stand up and tell me what you need me to do. Whatever it is, I’ll help you.”
She paused, and slowly rose to get feet. “Would you really help me?”
“Yes, but you have to do something for me in return.”
