Mrs. Jiang followed the direction Jiang Nanshu was pointing at.
Chu Xin was eagerly following behind Mr. Jiang, holding two coconuts with straws sticking out.
He’d declined at first but then accepted them and started sipping contentedly.
Getting closer, one could even hear Mr. Jiang’s praise, "Mrs. Chu, the coconut juice you bought is so sweet."
Mrs. Jiang’s face turned green, "This damned old fool, daring to do this right under my nose!"
She stormed over furiously.
Chu Xin covered her mouth with a coy smile, "If brother-in-law likes it, then that’s great."
Mr. Jiang was indeed quite pleased and was about to ask her where she bought it so he could get one for Mrs. Jiang.
He was just thinking this when he saw his wife approaching quickly. Because of his nearsightedness, he hadn’t noticed the angry expression on Mrs. Jiang’s face.
Holding the coconut, he said, "Wife, come and try this, it’s really yummy."
Mrs. Jiang knocked it out of his hand with a swipe. Chu Xin let out a yelp and took a small step back, looking pitiful, "Shuling, what happened? Why did you spill brother-in-law’s coconut juice like that?"
Mrs. Jiang glared at her with hatred, barely maintaining her facade, "Can’t I spill it? Xinxin, you’re really biased. You buy for my husband but not for me? I’m very angry."
Chu Xin’s face stiffened.
She’d specifically waited outside the men’s Hot Spring House for over an hour with the purchased coconut juice just to wait for Mr. Jiang.
How could she have thought of Mrs. Jiang?
Chu Xin was somewhat embarrassed, "I bought it with brother-in-law at the beverage shop we passed on the way in. Since I couldn’t find you, I didn’t purchase any for you. Shuling, you’re not going to be upset with me over this, are you?"
"I always think of you when buying anything and make sure to get something for you. Do you think I’m angry because you bought coconut juice for my husband? What makes me angry is that you don’t care about our sisterly bond at all."
Mrs. Jiang spoke honestly.
She genuinely cared for Chu Xin, sympathizing with the decline of the Chu Family. She often had her son look out for the Chu Family’s business, otherwise, their situation would have been even worse.
But how did Chu Xin repay her?
Coveting the Jiang Family’s property!
First, she had her eyes on her son, and now on her husband.
What bad karma had she accumulated to know such an ingrate?
Mrs. Jiang hadn’t found more direct evidence yet, so it wasn’t good to break off relations with Chu Xin. Instead, she turned her anger towards Mr. Jiang.
He was still somewhat confused, clearly unaware of what was happening in front of him.
All he knew was that his sweet coconut juice had all spilled onto the ground.
Boohoo, it tasted so good.
The next second, his ear was twisted.
"Ow, ow, ow!—Wife, show some respect in front of everyone, please!"
Mrs. Jiang chuckled coldly, "Still dare to enjoy treats behind my back?"
Mr. Jiang’s eyes were filled with tears, "I won’t, I won’t ever again. I hate coconut juice, I’ll never drink it again."
Mrs. Jiang then satisfied, gracefully retracted her hand, and smiled at Chu Xin, "My apologies, Xinxin, for making you witness this farce. My husband and I are returning to our room. You enjoy yourself, okay?"
With that, she pulled Mr. Jiang away.
He still didn’t understand what had happened.
His hopeful gaze rested on Jiang Nanshu, who had been watching the drama unfold, hoping she would spill some feelings to answer his confusion.
[Tch, tch, tch, turns out the old man is scared of his wife. All that seriousness usually, but he’s actually under the thumb.]
Mr. Jiang: "..."
That’s not what I wanted to hear... give me another explanation!
[But... why did mom hit dad? I don’t get it!]
"!!!"
